Season Journey - old version was simpler and easier, because you could select what objectives you wanted to do. This one is sorta mandatory
The bad
Barb WW, is useless.
Barb Quake WW is fine, for 50-60’s but it lost alot of mojo
My friends tied Rogue and SB and both are OK for 30-40’s pits but then, also useless as single target damage is pretty non-existent
New uber ladder is too complicated, 12 of these, 3 of these, 2 of these? Just lower drop #'s and make it 1 or 2 max of each item.
Uber nerf in drops sucks too. Not only most items are trash, but because they are ALL uniques, and you rarely farm for more than 1-2 items from each boss, the rest is literal trash!. Back, in the old days, at least when legendary dropped, those could be had for aspects or given to party members/friends, but now, it’s worse.
Just about every build to do decent T4 requires Ubers, which only drop from uber bosses (don’t give me that they can drop elsewhere, if u think so, go farm them) or required making them, where 6 last season I probably’ didnt find 6 of any of the legendary runes and I played alot!
The new season chapters ashes are bad, i have to basically swap to cache one, before OI redeem for cache, then go back to ubers for ubers, then go back to glyphs for glyphs, really? this is actually worse than switching for MF, wtf kinda designer came up with that idea and wtf kinda director/vp approved it???
The even is boring, cause if no one is in the zone, you’re running like an idiot 1/2 the map to kill those eyes. Boss drops are not rewarding.
If you nerfed boss powers fine, but then give us DPS elsewhere, I have all my 4 maxed out at 20, and still they are poop.

Itemization sucks, for look at almost any build, if u don’t have 1-3 ubers in it, u are capped.
Drops, so far, crap. I haven’t played alot in t3 ot t4 but Alot in t2 and Have not seen even 1 2 star drop yet. If you going to tell me go to t4 for higher chances at 2-3 stars, i’d say sure, but then again, if i can’t kill poop without 2-3 ubers in my build, then wtf?
Yes, some genius is going to say that Blizz said that after t1 is all aspirational. Sure, keep telling yourself that.
Don’t get me wrong, I was p300 in s6 and p285 in s7 and tbat is not by doing pits (stopped at gems being 46 as pits are boring). so if I have fun, I will play. This is not fun at all.
In s7, I can get about 6-7 caches an hour easily = more mats, more items, more everything.
Unless we see some significant buffs, I might be done soon. The problem with Whirlwind is not buffing it’s base damage, but there is no item that gives good multiplier. New gloves should be giving MUCH more impactful multiplier.
I mean it is what Blizzard said, that won’t change. It doesn’t mean we have to agree with it, but that is their stance at the moment. Also your criticism of the game in its current state is perfectly valid, regardless of what the Devs have stated and their current philosophy on the game. I doubt you’ll see too much coming for WW though, at least this season anyway.
It gets less mandatory the further it goes. Some UI bugs this season, too.
One of the biggest differences I see is the new version is more guided. The old version was extremely passive, most of it was completed just while doing normal things and occasionally you’d have to go out or your way for something specific. That may be a positive or negative, depending on the person.
In terms of loot progression, I feel staying to the Season Journey is a great way to stay on the power curve, though some of that may be attributed to loot being so much harder to acquire now.
The biggest gripe I have, and it’s a silly one, stop putting the basic elixirs in it. Those things have negative value and they’re rewards for tasks way, way, way past the point you’d ever bothering with such an elixir.
Of the reworks this season, the Season Journey I feel is the best one, but that bar is set unfathomably low, too.
did that in s7, and the problem is, you have to run back to pickup blood orbs to reset cooldown=instant lose for me. I did like pit 120 and it was fine, but annoying…

I also finished 5 chapters, and they weren’t bad, but 6 and 7 get a bit tedious and some are just lame, like kill some uber with some specific skill, why the fk?? this is what d3 did… wit their set dungeons, not sure if I knew 1 person who liked that
It’s a downgrade from everything last season was. Just more trash from an out of touch company. A sinking ship that will never reclaim their past glory’s.
You can see it in the finished product this season, the character design, end game systems and the way they ram MTX options down your throat the moment you log in.

What I am noticing is resource shortages no matter what I do. I go to run pits but no keys (this has never been an issue for me before this season). Go farm keys, then get glyphs to 45, oh right need to farm jewels. Let’s do some master working (even though my gear is crap) nope sorry go farm forgotten souls. Boss farming, no keys. So now farm keys to get no drops hoping belial shows up so you get a shot at an 800 unique. Most likely one you don’t need or min roll on the key stat.
Then, of course, you have the tedious forced stages bosses. Sorry if I have to kill these things a bajillion times just to get an meh item let me kill it in a few seconds. Yeah, it’s boring but so is going through the same silly mechanics for the billionth time.
lol tell that to the troll who claims he cleared “Journey done with EQ barb playing solo at p180 with level 50ish glyphs and 8/12 Masterwork” and completed the season journey within 2 days.
I am steam rolling T2 with shat gear at the moment. The only ancestral item I have is my pants I haven’t even made +4 upgrade on all items due to obducite deficit.
This is the biggest problem I’m seeing in S8. Everything is now farming based… you have to farm herbs in end game loop… seriously? It’s like they decided it was a survival game this season where you have to find everything to live. And gem fragments? Forget about crafting the top gems for your main let alone an alt. Pit keys, NMD keys, Hoard keys… all of them are basically nonexistent. My p70 Sorcerer running T1 has one – ONE – Hoard key so far.
I got mine from Helltide chests in S8 mostly. Sometimes from Whispers. I don’t find much value in Hordes this Season anyways. XP is usually better for Incursions, plus you get the Seasonal mats. Obducite is better in NMD (faster clears). 10 wave Hordes are about equivalent, but 8 and 6 are pointless to me.
In S7, I got them from Whisper Chests (ones you unlock with keys). I wish those chests remained.
It’s really just S7 all over again, except instead of farming whispers in one location, you do them all over the map. Including bosses, which will reward the whisper even if you don’t open the chest.
A good gameplay loop this season is just open the map and if an activity has a whisper do it. If not, just farm Helltides whispers untik something else has a whisper.
Targeting one activity isn’t as good because we still get so many things from whispers.
I’ve opened 10-12 Tortured chests and only have the one Hoard key. But I’m not bothering with Helltides for a while… Switched from HC to SC so I can learn the new ladder Boss mechanics… nearly died to Gregoire and don’t want try the new ones or 2nd tier ones until I’m comfortable fighting them.
If this is the overwhelming consensus for season 8 and it’s 2 days in Blizzard needs to worry about making season’s 9 and 10 a lot better and not just a powers swap.
They should also worry about making season 8 better now but let’s not hold our breath.
The game is going to get staler and staler every season. Like a peice of bread. Eventually left out of the bag and exposed to air it becomes hard as a rock. Like toast but without heat. So it just tastes bad and sucks.
This season is completely boring, seriously, it just feels like there is nothing really to do, I’m so bored of the same rubbish and I was really looking forward to this season.
I already played BloodWave build in S7, I’ve passed Pit 136 but still not feeling too excited becoz D4 devs always know how to cut all the fun out of players when they change Tidal Aspect and cap everything.
S6 > S7: Blood Wave fires 2 additional waves, each dealing 200-240% of normal damage, but you can no longer recast it until the last wave ends. >>> Not fun anymore. No need to increase damage to compensate, just give players the playstyle they need.
