S8 PTR adjustment question [Enchant Master Paragon Board]

Yo, putting out a question that i didnt see discussed. The S8 PTR changes to the enchant mastery paragon board have each enchant elemental type boosted by 30×. Does this take into account enchants from occulus or firebird aspect?

Ie: would Fireball, Meteor as enchants, with firebird aspect on gear somewhere = 90x fire damage?

[I wouldnt really expect enchants granted from gear/aspects would be recognized by whatever code change they make for this, but it would be funny].

I don’t believe so.
The text says “each equipped Enchantment” and I don’t think that Enchantments given by gear counts as “equipped”.

Agreed, thats what i was thinking. Gotta test with these devs tho lol

This change will single-handedly alter the way enchantments work because they will go from being utility to output and force every build to use two from the same school to maximize damage. In other words RIP Ice and Fire builds that will no longer be able to run the Teleport enchantment and RIP Shock and Fire builds that will no longer be able to run the Ice Blade enchantment.

The sheer idiocy behind some of the changes that these devs push through is really mind boggling. It’s like they hyperfocus on something and mess with it without any consideration for the consequences. Forcing a tradeoff between utility and throughput is one of the dumbest things a game dev can do. Also if you’re just going to buff a paragon node so much that it will essentially become mandatory then simply give the entire class a flat damage buff instead! I mean this is literally Game Development 101 stuff here and they’re failing miserably even though they’re one of the largest and oldest game studios in the freaking world! :man_facepalming:t2::man_facepalming:t2::man_facepalming:t2:

So i had the same thoughts on teleport enchant (i will stop playing the game before i take that off) and that fire/ice might be out of luck in terms of paragon multipliers, but heres the solution I may have found. Every build can have 4 paragon boards (and starter) with 50-60× multipliers. Concept as follows:

Convulsions in current ptr is strong; we want crackling energy. Theres a paragon board with identical conditions to convulsions and near identical benifits: 60× multiplier from ceaseless conduit.

Method for cE generation on non lightning build:
Teleport enchant: morph with 500x dmg, cE gen (this is our only cE generator)

Unstable currents: the 25% attk speed is welcome on most builds, ice shard specs have used this for many seasons. More importantly, this is your cE ‘shield’. Activate with cE charges and they wont be used. A single teleport onto an enemy and you have all your buffs for the rest of the instance with 100% ult uptime; near perma uptime of the ult is achievable via a couple ways.

With + 3 convulsions on ammulet, 6 on arms and 6 on boots, 3 points in skill, and shroud equipped, a single cE grants 95x from convulsions and 60x from ceaseless conduit (this is just example of a spec)

With this approach in play, other paragon boards can be frigid fate (just vulne targets, which you do anyway) and fundamental release. The final board is user choice, ice go icefall, burn goes burning instinct, fire direct damage goes searing heat, shock goes static surge, ect. (There may be additional play here; im not super familiar with what cE does and doesnt proc, will test more later)

Im still trying to determine if this is efficient; im running it on a mess of a build using primarily incinerate rn, no issues on uptimes for cE and associated buffs. (Im running teleport and fireball enchants currently so niether one need the multiplier from enchant master to proc more often or w/e)

Yeah only problem with that is you lose the 30% damage reduction from the other Teleport morph which means certain death in higher Pit tiers. They really didn’t think this through at all or simply want every sorcerer to play a shock build.

Mofos just won’t let me play my mediocre Meteor build in peace… /sigh

Not really; we have alot of dmg reduc available elsewhere these days. I would agree with this in s 1-4 or so, but as long as you get some dmg reduc healthy, max res ect ect i think it wont make too much of a diff; it is a concern that i had at first tho.

I ran occulus in s1-3 timeframe and tele enchant s4-present. I will try to force the math before considering removal of teleport dodge lolo.

I will make it legal

Enchant Master board turns in a must have board in most build in my point of view.

As a very late follow up (srry only got on last night) no, enchants granted by aspect of firebird/occulus do not grant damage increases from the enchant master paragon node. They do gain shorter cooldowns so the 30% stronger bit still applies but oh well. had to test it lol.
