I don’t want to improve the RNG, I want to remove it entirely from the Blacksmith itself. We should pick whatever affix/stat we want to improve with Masterworking. But for example, Masterworking 1-4 takes obducite and specific magic runes which are easier to acquire and we pick which affix to improve. But 5-8 takes specific rare runes which are harder to acquire, and then 9-12 takes legendary runes which are the hardest to acquire.
So this makes masterworking much much harder the first and only time you need to do it per item, but puts the RNG on farming items (runes) which is what an ARPG should be, but once you acquire the runes and obducite, you can masterwork to 12 and guaranteed 3x any affix you want, or split it up based on breakpoints, etc. That means no need to reroll over and over hoping for RNG. But salvaging it should NOT refund you back the materials.
In S5 I played almost two full months. I played 4 alts. Why? Because I was having fun on all of them and I was getting drops.
In S6, spiritborn was so far out of whack that I dont even want to play another class and struggle. There are no drops to be had. Im barely into T4 and I really dont care.
Making drops rare does not make me play the game longer to get them. Its making me play it shorter because salvaging 1000s of bags of loot just isnt fun.
I’ve played every class to max and run into the same issue every season. Well, I haven’t played D4 every season, think I missed Season 2 and 3. Killed Lilith Season 1 pre nerfs, but every D4 season I do play, there is nothing that keeps me around too long like D2 still does to this day. Maybe D5 will have D2 itemization with end game activities. Because this D3 clone ain’t it.
PoE 2 Beta starts soon, maybe that’s the closest thing we got to look forward to.
How many hours have you put in this season? What is your typical day like?
People who have already maxed everything aren’t the average player. There’s simply no comparison.
Someone who only gets to play occasionally may not even be to 60 yet. They certainly aren’t P200+ with 12/12 and all their mythic talks g about the lack of end game. That’s reserved for the select few who have banged away at S6 16 hours a day since it dropped.
You know what I mean. There are only a handful of people that care about grinding that long for something so silly and unnecessary. Maybe on eternal but not on a seasonal realm.
oh and i know im not super casual. but as i said, there is still a rather big gap between 1 week, and a casual player who effectively will probably need like 1 month to finish stuff, when we are talking about a 3 month season.
I saw 1 mythic drop last season and it was from the very first stone I used. I leveled every class to max, 2 for Rogue/Barb/Sorc and maxed their rep, grinded for gear, endless farming and only got annoyed towards the end when I realized I wouldn’t see another mythic drop from or for anything.
This season already feels worse for drops and grinding overall. I don’t play in groups, but maybe that’s the problem.
This is exactly the entire point of this thread. Not just the bricking from tempering, but trying to masterwork the desired stats. End game should not be clicking a button at the blacksmith.
Just imagine the state this game would be in if Immortal didn’t cause so much outrage that they promised to never include loot boxes. Good lord, you can see everywhere they wanted to put in loot boxes too.
