It’s important to also remind people that these will be changed season to season; and they are actively looking for feedback on this type of reward.
I’ll wait to see how it plays when I run though my first character of the season.
Juuuuust kidding. I’m hoping Incinerate performs well at end-game or at least shows that progress is being made towards viability. Patience with this skill is a virtue(well with D4 too hehe)
Edit - I should say - Incinerate is a really good leveling skill from personal experience.
Incinerate + Firewall is not too bad for trash and elites. Not so good vs Bosses though.
So yea it’s a nice starter-aspect pack.
Taken directly from the Livestream. Cleaned it up a little.
You’re going to get a pre-set curated amount of legendaries as you’re going through that are targeted for a specific build. So we chose a build for every class in season 4, we’re going to change it around in future seasons, please give us feedback.
You’re basically going to get close to a completed build when it comes to opening those caches, they’re guaranteed targeted legendaries for specific builds.
So as we level and complete parts of the seasonal journey for the rewards, we’ll get random legendaries, more so for the aspects rather then the gear itself. Eventually ending up with probably the majority of aspects you would use for that particular build.
I may have been wrong in my initial assumption. I thought it would be given to us closer to WT4. From the sounds of it though we may be getting this fairly early on and continuously while we play. Just have to wait and see I guess.
It’s just D3 journey all over again but instead of sets its now legendary gear they will choose for you.
I’m not optimistic. Blizzard has had a strong tendency to give seasonal rewards well after the point they’re actually useful.
And, frankly, I don’t even see the point unless they’re compensating for low drop rates or some other shenanigan that they know we won’t like. It’s not like D3 where you needed a power spike to account for 10+ tiers of difficulty. Every class is already capable of smashing the game with no build at all through the leveling process, and that’s been made even easier through other changes.
I don’t think anyone catch on that we’re getting loot PLUS aspects for the Season Journey. Everyone just automatically assume we’re only getting specific loot with specific aspects.
keep using blizzard and conjuration. i don’t like incinerate gameplay
Same for druid, Lighting Storm + companions.
Necro blood lance needs some love.
Rogue should be rebuild from the scratch. The most boring and weak class in the game. Combo Points is a lot boring.
Barb need nerf to not one shoot everything anymore.
I’m not a fan of this idea. It took away from D3’s playability. Trade should be the way we gear up quickly.
Season 4 another slap in the face but this time its about the items. Like that is really going to get me hyped up for it. No new content the map still looks the same the dungeons still look the same no new monsters and the only thing new at least you are guaranteed item 925 starting at a certain level. WOW!!! gimme me a break
I don’t care what they give me, it’s 9/10 going to end up in the codex anyway. So thanks for the minor short cuts!
I just see it as a “bad luck protection”, 9 times out of 10 it will probably be for a build I do not intend to play.
Itemization really hasn’t changed all that much which is the weird thing
That looks like more than it is. In a nutshell, you have a little more control over itemization, but more RNG was added also. Power Creep went way the hell up. Blizzard nerfed Damage enemies do by a ton to compensate for removing DR Affixes on Items. That’s it. That is the “Big Itemization 2.0”
Yeah but these changes will likely save D4 like smart loot 2.0 did to D3
Save it? The only thing saving it is that PoE 2 isn’t out.
Time will tell. Many said the same thing about D3. Regardless of anyone’s personal opinion about it, the game eventually did exceedingly well and still thrives to this day. Now I may not play it anymore, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t still popular.
RoS and the console release is what saved D3 during a drought of ARPGs. It was good timing on Blizzard’s part. That was an example of a complete overhaul. The itemization changes are…minimal…to say the least in D4.
I’m not about to change your mind on this, I will just say, objectively speaking I respectfully disagree with you. Subjectively speaking I think this is a push in the right direction and will attract more people to the game in the long run.
Doesn’t mean the game doesn’t still need a lot of work in other areas, but from my perspective they are pretty much done with itemization aside from Uniques and a few tweaks here or there.
Iggi,
May I ask are you Oblivion from the D3 forum? You have the same mellow disposition. I lost touch with him.
Like you he did not let others get under his skin. I would always ask him lore questions. Just wondering.
I’ve only ever been Iggi sorry. I rarely visited the D3 forums myself, usually just to ask for clarification on how a particular interaction or system worked. I was more engrossed with FFXIV as well and I visited and posted on their forums far more often.
I just see us as a bunch of guys sitting around the water cooler talking about whatever randomly comes into the conversation. I will admit I do love playing devils advocate though, regardless if I’m talking to some one criticizing or praising the game.
