S3 is a real kick in the B

but not for reasons of aesthetics or thematic.

What baffles me is the amount of customisation that is possible with the robot Skills. 10-15 new skills, and each can have up to 3 customisations picked out of a lot of choices. WTF how insanely better then the base game is that?

And then we look at our barebone lack of creativity and diversity class skills. Why cant we get this creativity in our base game? Can we hire that season team for the base game?

If only the tuneing stones could have added to our own skills in some way. Would have been better recived maybe.

Yup, this customisation looks like a fun system, to tinker around. I want it as a base for every class skill, not a season theme. The game would be so much better. Its really mind bogling.

Say it with me now, “we’re in early access”. The bare bones of the game is there, just needs to be fleshed out and tweaked, like most early access games. Now depending on the scope of the game, it can take several years to become a finished product. In that sense we’re lucky, it only needs a year or two more to bake in the oven.

well they could, but internally, it’d prob become a 6 month process to get all parties to sign off and bypass all the layers of tape, they have a LOT of tape in their offices

This is the core issue with seasons.
So much completely wasted development time, that could have been spent on making a better game.

it might get used for the base game depending on reception at a later stage. And i hope it isnt overshadowed by the dislike of the theme and gets shelved.

This is a perfect system to implement to the class skills.
You could use the D2 runes for this easily. For example socket a Ber rune to give a prohjectile skill an additional projectile etc etc.

i mean its basicly d3 style, just with many more options.

Sorry, this just made me laugh a bit. I’m not sure if you’re aware of the hate spewed at the this particular team during S1. I mean, literal hate and vitriol for weeks, as recently as currently active threads on this forum.

well s1 sucked. But at least they have some creativity sparks now:) . Which is a net positive, hopefully it gets used for the base and not just for seasons.

If you look at the options they aren’t terribly creative, but yes, these people misunderstand some fundamental things.

Too many dummies.

Yes.

Huge sparks.

If only the robot had robot powers, such as a speedboat, missiles, grenades… but it doesn’t poison enemies. Very bad. I’m already celebrating the end of this season. Disappointed.

Are you trolling? They had 10 years.

Support gems being wasted on a pet instead of being added to our character’s skills is the one of biggest misses on D4 so far imo

I think the real question would be is Blizzard trolling. Also while they may have had 10 years, it took them 4 years to realize what to do with D4, and the other 6 constantly losing upper management and grunt workers because they quit over the years. Look at the upper management and just do a quick google search of how long the majority have worked at Blizzard, that’s all I’m saying.

Joe Shelly is the only one who wasn’t hired within the past 6 years. Mind you not all of them started working on D4 when it was initially in development either. Some were moved over in 2020, others later on. So it’s obvious why the game is in the state it is at the moment.

If it makes you feel any better, each of these seasons has essentially been them testing new gameplay mechanics. Don’t be surprised if much of this is geared towards figuring out what new systems to add in the future. Or at least that’s my more hopeful take on it. :stuck_out_tongue: :v:

Sadly with the new info about the 2 new chase items, its just 2 ubers tied to the companion, i dont get good vibes. Its like aoz all over again, farm like crazy to be able to compete in the gauntlet. This time with official leaderboards.
And we still have dupes, snapshots and whatnot.

So they better be fixing the majority of the exploits and issues. If the gauntlet is exploitable in any way, it will get roasted by the fans.

Proc based powers require a baseline attack speed. Thus the pet.

Don’t worry, you’ll get to have all of the things you liked from seasons in the base game, as part of the expansion. It’s such an obvious idea, I’m surprised no one thought of it before now. They are using the seasons as test beds with the hardcore audience to determine which content people respond positively too, and that stuff will get bundled up and resold to the more casual, non-season players as an expansion pack, along with a new story, and WT5 to keep the no lifers happy.

It totally won’t be the same exact content though, because they’ll have paid an intern to change the graphics and names on everything. The robot won’t be a robot anymore, it’ll be a real spider that levels up to get you the skills and perks these stones give in S3. Your very own Diablimochi. Who hasn’t always wanted that?
