Throwing a two penneth of thought into the mix. I’m a relatively casual player that drops in for 200 hours in a season and then goes and does other things. Mostly my frustrations come from mechanics that do not reward the time invested into them.
The Good
- The loot filter is great. Could it be tweaked? Sure. But as a starting point it helps immensely.
- The Horadric Cube offers some interesting ways to obtain gear.
The Not-So-Good
- The Horadric Cube recipes are far too random, particularly when rerolling Set Charms. I’ve burnt tens of thousands of dust and am no closer to getting the affixes I’m after.
- Unique Charms have no mechanism for re-roll.
- Random stats on Ancestral Unique items. Just no, especially with the inability to modify them like Ancestral Legendaries. I’m Paragon 237 and have yet to find a single item that supports my build.
- Do mythic Horadric Seals even exist in this game?!?!?!
- Transfiguration is too much of a risk for too little ofa reward.
The Fixes
- Revert Ancestral Unique items to fixed stats.
- Allow unique charms to be rerolled like standard charms, and improve the mechanism for acquiring desirable affixes.
- On item merging, guarantee an outcome of the next tier up. So if you merge 3 ancestral versions of an item, guarantee 1 *; 3 x 1 * items guarantees a 2 *, and so forth. Items become account bound anyway, so it shouldn’t upset the economy to have some guaranteed outcomes.
- Allow for 1 affix to be preserved (per item) in merging. If (2) is implemented, would still have to acquire items with the desired * affixes and plan out merging them up to 4 *. Even then, the 4th affix would be random so you may still end up with a garbage item!
- Remove Transfiguration. Having one possible useful outcome, after overcoming the obscene RNG numbers currently in place, is a slap in the face.
Can still farm, still rely on RNG, but can apply a scientific method to improving your itemisation and build.
Oh, and make pets pick cube mats up.
