Hello friendly rogue people. Played druid S1 and its good- good enough that save for one problem I’d do again S2 . That problem is a certain unique that is essential to a good number of builds that, for unknown reasons, is exponentially more rare than another unique that performs, literally, the exact same function for other builds. Its dumb and I’m over it.
Anyway, is the ability to sample the variety of Rogue builds artificially limited by an unreasonably rare item? Like is there a particular really rare item (likely unique) that makes attempting a desired playstyle a waste of time unless you have it?
Not talking uber uniques. Thanks for any insights. Rogue seems fun and if you can play around with the different builds without being tethered to an item that ain’t gonna drop I think would tip the scales in favor of rogue for me. Thanks in advance!
Nope. Rogue uniques are considered to range from mediocre to lulz items. There are two daggers that are nice, Asheara’s Khanjara and Condemnation, but neither of them are critical for the popular twisting blades builds. A well-rolled Cowl of the Nameless is also nice.
Many rogues run around with Penitent Greaves as the total effects work nicely with many builds. It’s the only unique I use. Of course, no guarantee that this will remain the same in S2.
Welcome to the thieves guild.
Rogue had one good unique item this season, the Eaglehorn unique bow is great for Rogue who plan to use Penetrating Shot build to clear nightmare dungeons.
What type of Druid build did you play?
Generally you’ll find what everyone else has said correct. The unique might be a nice to have, maybe a 10% difference (literally in the case of the Penitent) but otherwise it is not always clear the unique is better. It’s optional whereas the Druid ones are mandatory.
I think in early 50’s and WT3 they are fun, but by WT4 generally best yellows roll will trump uniques, so kind of just depends on which one rolls better for you whenever you get it. The paragon board is so powerful you should have a pretty smooth ride even if your never find a useable unique.
Thanks for the replies! Thinking rogue may be the way to go.
Pulverize, which is fantastic.
The ONLY thing you will want to be mindful is is how much more active rogue gameplay will feel like, literally the APM and how tired your fingers might get.
Pulverize is very ‘slow’ mechanics, almost leisurely. Walk into position (or no positioning needed in tunnels), one click earth spike, one click pulverize (maybe two). I personally LOVE pulverize build to relax from Rogue pace of play.
This is also my reservations about Tornado wolf versus Pulverize bear by the way.
Rogue will be clicking all the time to ‘dance’ around the mobs.
Bottom line, you will not be disspointed in power or unique issues, but you may not want to click buttons that much as rogue as the only real downside.
