It seems as though they removed the runeshards from the Blood Maiden - which is fair.
I do not seem to be getting any from NMDs either though.
It looks like helltide chests are the best method of acquiring @ 3 per chest (regardless of cost). Anyone have any other insights?

I haven’t had any rune shards drop period. Before I stopped playing, I ran 6 or 7 tier 50 nmd’s and not one rune shard and I opened 5 helltide chests and not a single rune shard dropped. I do not know what the dev team is thinking but they keep making the game more and more tedious by changing where and how you get the items/mats needed to do anything.
there is bug that not dropping rune shards from NMD, get mastering mats from hordes’ crafting chest(box) as rewards.
I was going to say, last season between Blood Maiden dropping them and getting them from NMDs they were a moot issue, I never dipped below 1k and I spammed the crap out of pits.
This season however, I am constantly going to helltide chests and having trouble staying above 100 runeshards…
I dont get them from NND’s, Horde chests or Helltide chests. I dont get an shards no matter what I do. I created a new char to see if my old one was bugged and the new one does not get any either.
I get tons from helltide, not that I use them
