Here is some insight into a early game rogue build. I assume they might balance the trickshot legendary affix, because If you combine it with shadow imbuement, you will basically blow up big groups of mobs. This might get nerfed. But even if it should get a nerf, you could still use this as some good form of early game rogue build if you want some range action. Not saying that this is the best build. Neither I am saying that I got the best rogue out of all players in beta. I just say that this is my build, that it was fun to play and that I can suggest it to you in case you are looking for a rogue bow/xbow build for game launch.
heres the video with skill and gear showcase such as actual gameplay
The Rogue missed the mark for me in a certain aesthetic regard.
It has GREAT skins/gear/sets, but the particle effects that constantly surround it, ruin that entirely.
Dark Shroud that you have up in this video, legendary aspect Flurry (360 spikes), and the imbuements transform the Rogue’s iconic silhouette into a spikey shadow blob.
I wish Blizzard would tone that down.
And doubly so for the trick shot aspect that is extremely jarring to view with that 90-degree break. Of all the classes Rogue reminded me the most of PoE combat, and that’s bad IMO, ruining D4’s beautiful handcrafted looks and stellar animations.
Suggestion: If Blizzard make the trick shot on penetrating shot split at random angles like a ricochet, it would be a better mechanic and look nicer, slightly nerfing the skill but also creating more interesting gameplay.
Similar example:
In Dota 2, Valve “nerfed” Ember Spirit “Sleight of Fist” skill. It was an AOE ground-targeted skill that sliced every enemy and the position of the attack was in the direction Ember Spirit faced, thereby stacking multiple cleaves with a cleaving item like Battlefury.
Valve then made it random direction, so that Ember could no longer 1-shot waves as easily with 1 Sleight of Fist- some of the cleave directions would be outside and some facing inside. Result: Overall less damage, more randomness, but within reason.
This type of nerf can be the same solution for Trick Shot for D4 Rogue.
Yeah it looks really dumb. 30 or 45 degree breaks would have looked much better, though probably be a bit strong for firing into a crowd with shadow imbue.
I actually think they will tweak the trickshot affix. I hope they will not nerf it too much, because this build was really fun for me personally and I want to main the rogue on launch due my beta experience. My build was not finished yet. But still could deal with most dungeons easily. I like the mobility and it actually feels quite smooth imo. I think the shots with the truning around anmiation is not too bad if you both meant it. I like to run, dodge, shoot while running. Of course this is a more stress gameplay style, but it can be quite rewarding if done correctly. I am of course sure that this is not for everyone because you really need to hit all your shoots and build a good range from enemies that want to melee you and hunt you down, especially if you solo
I made the suggestion below that comment to make it random like Ember Spirit sleight of Fist was nerfed.
If Blizz change that awkward 90-degree trickshot on Rogue to even 30-40 degree it’ll look more natural like LoL Lissandra Ice Shard that breaks up like a flechette round.
Make it random and see what happens.
The 90-degrees is easy for firing into the middle of mobs and getting good coverage with a wide rectangular AOE now. Looks bad and is OP
