Rogue mid season buff FULLPATCH -Pen Shot, Flurry, Victimize and Precision and more

All the other classes got multiple slides, and Rogue just got one.

Still, I’m happy Victimize is getting buffed. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

  • Overpowered Flurry
  • Victimized Barrage
  • Precision Rapid Fire (Obviously, to help the top Rogue players get closer to other classes on the leaderboard)

Wow a 5% buff to Rogue. My Rogue hits for 35,000, while top Spiritborn players hit for 35,000T a 5% buff is a slap in the face. My Rogue was so bad I couldn’t even get to Torment 4 and I’m a pretty good player with two Mythic Uniques. I had a goal of reaching Torment 4 which I had to do so by re-rolling Spiritborn.

Yeah I’ll log into the game on patch day and if my current Rogue that I already have built doesn’t clear Torment 4 with my 5% buff to damage, then it’ll be a long time until I return to the game.

I understand the game isn’t meant for me. I understand that. And we’re getting to Season 7 here soon which means the game is aging and the focus is on core players who are loyal no matter what, but we just had an expansion. I enjoyed the Campaign on my Rogue, and I was pretty let down that I couldn’t get to Torment 4.

I just want to make my own build and have fun that way. And I understand that the top streamers are doing just that, making their own build. I don’t want to take away from that. But getting paid from twitch donations really pushes the Diablo creators to make broken builds. Knowingly breaking the game. And the masses follow those broken builds and it just isn’t fun for me.

I feel pretty sad to be honest that one month after a new expansion, I’m already ready to dip out. It ain’t for me.

5% buff to Rogue is a slap in the face.

I totally get your frustration. I enjoy creating my own builds too, but there always seems to be a bugged meta build that outperforms whatever I come up with. It really makes theorycrafting tough in this game. Why can’t we have a bug-free experience? And how do some people already know about these bugs on day one of the season?

It sounds like you’re using Precision with that 5% mention. The full patch notes are coming out this Friday, so hopefully, we’ll see more changes. But don’t get your hopes up—Rogue only got one slide in the campfire chat, while other classes had multiple. Maybe the dev team thinks Rogue is in a good spot. And don’t even compare it to Spiritborn—that class is ridiculously broken right now. I swapped my gear from Rogue to Spiritborn and managed to clear Pit 150 in just two days. Spiritborn will get nerfed down (fixed) to other classes’ levels next season, might still strong but not as OP as this season.

Why didn’t they buff Dance of Knives and Momentum Key Passive? I am flabbergasted.

I’ve been playing Rogue since Day 1 of Season 1 and I couldn’t tell you if most of this is additive or multiplicative or does anything noticeably positive to my damage to save my life. I do know that I’m more than a little sick of everything good always getting nerfed into oblivion.

I’ve mentioned this before, but I really think Blizzard has something against M197. Every time he comes up with a solid build, it gets nerfed the very next season. It’s pretty clear who Blizzard’s favorite Rogue golden child is. :smirk:

And the Andy nerf that stayed. Oof.

While driving this morning, I had a realization: the nerf to Andariel and Victimize was likely due to the totem from Umbracrux. Instead of addressing the performance issues caused by Umbracrux, they opted to add an internal cooldown to Andariel and Victimize. Perhaps a better approach would have been for the totem to replicate our skills at 30% damage, similar to the Demon Hunter’s ability in D3, rather than nerfing Andariel and Victimize.

Andariel’s Visage

  • Damage increased from 3000% to 4000%.

Will this help?

I had to laugh when you first posted this (about the fact that Rogue only got 1 slide, that was an amusing observation).

But, now that the full notes are out, I’m excited to see a whole bunch of stuff I’m using is getting buffed. Whether it will actually make a significant difference or not in practice remains to be seen, of course, but this is the stuff that looks promising to me right now:

I don’t care about the cooldown when mine is already basically zero, but considering my entire build is centered around Smoke Grenade, I’ll take the double damage :joy:

LFG I got 9 points in this already!

I mean more is more, you know? Considering it goes to 10 stacks, that’s a decent increase.

Again the jury is out as to how much of an actual difference it will make, but on paper at least, I’m happy to see these numbers going up.

Looking forward to trying it out. I know I’ll never be a superstar with my goofy build, but it might make just enough of a difference that I can at least do some T4 stuff. Right now, I’m stuck on the edge of T3 and T4, where the previous tier is too easy, but my DPS is too low to play effectively in the higher tier.

I’ve been playing off-meta too, so I’m really excited about these buffs, especially to Victimize and Penetrating Shot. It’s a shame we don’t have an armory yet; otherwise, I’d be trying out more builds. For now, I think I’ll just keep spinning with Victimize all the way to Paragon 300.

Yeah, it’s a shame it’s not a bit easier to experiment with stuff. I mean it’s easy enough to spin up a new character (with the fast XP and shared paragon levels) but gearing them up would not be easy with the current drop rates.

Actually, about that, I wanted to ask - I didn’t see any notes about it anywhere, but do you feel like they adjusted Paragon XP a bit?

I’m at 263 now so it’s a slooooooow grind but I feel like in the last few days it has actually been moving the needle a bit more? The part that especially surprised me was that even doing relatively low level Pit runs on a new character was giving me more XP than expected.

Not that I’m aware of, but we’re getting a pre-holiday event with a 15% XP boost potion and Mother’s Blessings as part of the patch. Running low level pits quickly is the most efficient way to level up Paragon, as almost half of the xp comes from pits completion. Let me share you my spreadsheet. Make a copy and make changes.

Interesting, that goes some way towards explaining it! Thanks for the info (spreadsheet is private by the way)

Unlocked now. You can compare two pit levels to see which one is more efficient.

Cheers! I made a copy for myself like you suggested, this is awesome, considering how ridiculous it is to level up, I’ll make use of this! Thanks for all the help.

If you’re still searching for gear, Infernal Hordes is a great option to level up and farm quality loot simultaneously. Quick-running Pits is more of a Spiritborn specialty since they can speed-run levels 100-120.

Thanks, I’m not a huge fan of the horde mode (just not really my thing, I get bored of it too easily) but I could go for some targeted farming when I have some of the equipment seething opals, see what that yields!

Apparently they are.

No clue, it might. The damage increase would have to be pretty big to make up for the lack of procs. Or alternatively, give Andy’s Visage a lucky hit chance/make it work with Corroded Signet and Victimize.

If it actually had synergy with items and skills it should have it would be fine as is imo because the build would just migrate and adapt. But the item just doesn’t work with anything but the most baseline, generic damage modifiers and that’s what is making any Andy Visage nerf kinda bad imo.
