Rob2628 vs Maxroll builds?

Hi,

I am looking to put together a Lightning Spear build using the following:

  • Harlequin Crest
  • Tyrael’s Might
  • Tibault’s Will
  • Esu’s Heirloom
  • Fractured Winterglass
  • Tal Rasha’s Iridescent Loop
  • Ring of Starless Skies (until I get a different ring)
  • Gloves: Storm Swell Aspect
  • Staff: Aspect of Splintering Energy

And am looking at both these builds:

Out of the two what one would you recommend? they both look similar apart from the Paragon Tree.

Any thoughts would be most welcome

I’ve always been really happy with Maxroll builds. I enjoy watching Rob’s content but haven’t followed his build yet. Maxroll’s site is set up well and the guides are easy to follow.

Rob’s sorcerer build is based on Mekuna’s who is the sui generis sorcerer, and he’s playing it himself so there’s that for a recommendation.

İ usually play sorc though but tbh maxroll sorc guides i dont like

One thing I don’t understand with builds that recommend Tibault’s AND Tyrael’s Might:

Using Tyrael’s means no Snowveiled aspect - which makes you unstoppable with Ice Armor. You can then only be unstoppable with Flame Shield. In addition, Tyrael’s means no mana-per-second affix on the chest. So Flame Shield is your only cooldown that procs the mana and damage boost of Tibault’s.

In addition, I’ve been experimenting with removing Flame Shield altogether, with Ice Blades on my bar instead. It’s a CRAZY boost to cooldown reduction and helps ramp up Conj mastery stacks faster. However with Tyrael’s that makes Tibault’s entirely useless.

I do still get one-shot in t7 and even t6 Hordes sometimes, so I guess Tyrael’s is worthwhile, but in that case I’m wondering how other sorcs are dealing with the issue I mention above.

It’s so boring just copying guides… Use them as their intended. They guide you in the right direction. Figure out your own play style once you get to that point. I clear T 8 with no issue and I’m not using a build from either of these guides… It’s a lightning spear build but it’s completely my own. I even did a chain lightning lightning spear build and it was pretty damn good. I just didn’t have the lucky hit resource gain on anything.
But when you’re sitting there with 25 conjurations and limitless mana region throwing out a bunch of chain lightnings between frozen orbs literally blows your screen up.

Go with maxroll hands down you never trust someone who looks like Beavis!

I tried both and for me Robs builds are better. Dont forget to look at the varients based on what you want to do and what gear you have.

Ring of Starless is unnecessary and you dont really want to use it. Just get a normal ring with crit chance, attack speed, crit damage. Temper with LS cooldown and crit dmg. Use Frozen Orbit aspect on it.

Teleport also gives you unstoppable. You also dont need to use Tyraels. I dont have it and I am using raiment of the infinite.

I use maxroll for a quick reference guide, but I’ve found overall that the sanctuary discord class specific channels have the best guides and/or better off meta variants that are fun.

Rob’s guides I’ve found “ok” but haven’t been thrilled with his leveling setups (they work, I mean fun-playstyle wise they haven’t been my favorites), and I find the endgame build options are again better found on the class discords.

Flame shield dont make u unstopable it makes u immun so Tibaults Will dont hav an effect, u can see that by pushing mana skills to low mana than use flame shield and u dont get mana back, teleport gives u unstopable for a millisecond and thats enough to hav the tibaults will effect with Shako and Tal Rasha u hav enough CD to bring teleport to a 5 secs cooldown that u can spam it for Tibaults Will is up all time. I use the Maxroll build but the special version for End End build if u take the “Pit Push” part so u dont hav to use Frozen Orb anymore just spamm all CDs to spamm more and more Ice Blades to hav more and more cooldown reductions and u can spam Lightning Spear the whole time

My strategy now is to just not do tier 6’s or above, or over pit 100 and play my fun build.

Actually not a bad strategy as long as you are OK with slow rolling MW. I’m in the same boat really since S4. Just don’t find the new loot mechanics all that engaging or exciting.

put frozen orbit instead of storm swell on the gloves. can stay using ross then. it actually works quite well

use mobalytics, mekuna’s would be your best bet. he is like worlds best sorc so his sorc guides would be best
