Really becoming an issue during gameplay. Logged in today and literally right as I load in, my chatbox had already been bombarded with RMT ads by 5 or 6 different spammers who just threw a random combination of letters into the character creation.
I believe something that should be employed is a level restriction for chat channels ie cannot use local chat until level 10, cannot use trade chat until level 30.
I think this would greatly bring down the amount of spam we see since really feels like they’re just creating a new toon every time they get muted (and doesn’t seem like the accounts are being muted overall).

RMT exists because they allow items to be tradable. We need a fix on Season 5. Increase 2GA and 3GA drops and remove trading.

I had to turn off the trade channel cuz of the spam distraction (it’s like one of the townsfolk near the vendor in Cerrigar that raises arms in rhythmic pattern that even in peripheral vision is hard to ignore). But now I can’t link triple GA’s when I brick them.

I’ve always wondered how it’s so difficult to ban accounts that post these messages in trade chat. They aren’t even being secretive about it. They are literally asking for a ban, yet nothing is done about it.

They do get banned. I’ve reported about 6 of them and at least 5 of those times I got a notification that “action was taken” (in more words than what’s quoted). The most recent time I logged off beforehand so I’m sure the next time I login to game I’ll get another message in my social screen. The problem lies in the fact that once banned they just register another account, in doing so also buying another copy, which is a win for blizz’s finances. Blizz doesn’t care as long as the moneys going in their pockets.
It seems hard to believe in the age of AI, algorythms and bots that the instant a gold sell chat is posted the system doesn’t kick in and ban, remove etc. The tech these days it seems like this should be a legacy issue.
I know Microsoft is a small struggling company
but come on!
The formula for a DEAD GAME, gratz.
the formula to a dead game is a game no one wants to play
maybe you wont play this game if it has no trade
many wont
but i would
many would

No one wants to play RPG game with no economy.
Bot Problem and RMT ? Fix is Deleting the whole system instead of banning Sellers and Botters ? got it
Every single time I see it, I just report. Usually within 12-24 hours I get a message in game saying “action was taken thank you for your report…”
It was always bad enough seeing this trash in in-game chats for MMO’s, worse for an ARPG.
Btw, anyway to just turn off or disable trade chat?
Ah yes, tell me more how you know quite literally nothing about ARPG’s and how Trading and having a strong Community is key. I wish they would lower drop rates to be honest. Nothing is “Unique”, nothing is “Uber Unique”, they drop like candy already and you don’t even have to fight Ubers to get UBER UNIQUES.
RMT has been around since Diablo 2, it didn’t hurt the game then, it won’t hurt it now especially when everything is just dumped at the players feet because of the “instant-gratification” players that Blizzard only seems to listen to. Just report them then put them on ignore.
Until Blizzard puts in a chat filter to auto flag messages like that, we won’t see any change. Until then, every banned RMT advertisement account is another $70 in Blizzards pocket.
Honestly i feel drops are currently balanced. It doesnt feel like your forced to play trade sim but a choice to use a feature. Guaranteed bots and RMT companies do a lot of dmg to the “economy”.
Mind you I do think ubers are way to common but maybe they did this because you can roll ga on them.

Every time trading has been tried in Diablo it has resulted in bots and duplication that breaks the economy. The only thing that works is banning trading except for a limited time between party members.
Trading leads to cheating…

what you talking about?
if that was the case
d3RoS would have had no public
PoE ssf league? same
and before that d2 offline
speak for yourself, no one elected you as their representative

Real problem is we need a proper lobby and a chatroom…
sure cause people who plays PoE ssf are more than 80% right. Nobody likes to trade, buy and sell to build your character in a ONLINE game.
Really ? 2024 you talking about D2 offline mode from 2001 ? lmao
no, over 80% of the player base plays trade league
the problem lies with the fact that not all trade players are in deep engaged with trade…on the other side, all ssf players are definitelly apart from any kind of trade
so there is a “quality” factor on this one
by “in deep engaged” i meant players whose objective is to acumulate wealth/currency through trade, and the opposite being players whose objective is to farm the currency needed to build up their chars and be done with it
maybe you didnt notice that i spoke about d2 in a chronological order context, placing it before the others
to put it simple, d2 offline and open bnet were so popular, that entire modding communities have florished from it
lastly
i see you, maybe intentionally, forgot to mention d3RoS and the fact that by it d3 became a BoA game
before any argument that RoS was a failure when compared to the base game
remember that d3 sold 6.3m by it’s first week
and RoS sold 2.7m on it’s first weak
in the end, there is demand for a ssf mode, i know its a minority thing but there is one
and i dont think there is any problem with letting people having the official freedom to choose
Blizzard might be benefiting from players who get banned for bot spamming and then buy another copy of the game to continue their activities. This cycle is problematic, and Blizzard should address it.
One reason I bought this game was the reduced bot spamming compared to Diablo 3, where unrestricted trading allowed for rampant bot activity. Blizzard eventually limited trading to current game lobbies with a time limit, which helped.
If Blizzard doesn’t take stronger actions against bot spamming and in-game currency sales, they risk losing players like me. Many players prefer games where such activities are effectively banned. If Blizzard doesn’t improve their policies, I will consider refunding my preorder of the next Diablo 4 DLC.
A potential solution is to implement a system similar to Diablo 3, where trading is restricted or made irrelevant by making in-game gold easily accessible. This would discourage players from buying gold or items, as upgrading gear would not be prohibitively expensive. By addressing these issues, Blizzard could eliminate the incentive for bot trading.
