Triple shout was the ONLY thing keeping whirlwind treading water (And it was still middle tier AT BEST of the barbarian’s builds), and it just got obliterated with the changes.

you didn’t change this; you just GOT RID OF IT.
Like, the marshal change might be fine for builds that are doing good like Double swing or hammer of the ancients, but Whirlwind barbs only other CD skill is Wrath of the berserker, and MAYBE iron skin now. This is like chopping off a broken arm because “Now you won’t feel it hurt anymore! Problem solved”.
Whirlwind relies on doing it for prolonged periods of time to ramp up our damage and abusing snapshotting (Dire whirlwind and violent whirlwind), so utilizing other CD skills besides shouts, which will break our channel, isn’t as viable as for other builds.
Look, making Barbs unreliant on triple shout is a goal, but it needs to be mixed in with solutions to WHY we needed triple shout in the first place: As is, without it and with our vampiric powers gone, WW barbs are going to be sucking it at the absolute bottom of the barrel this season… again.

Starless Skies is really good for WW now, permanent x40% Damage Bonus and Resource Reduction making WW a generator. Mother’s Embrace needs to be changed to work similarly but be DR% stacks that build to Unstoppable. This lets you spin to win without really having to ever use another skill until you want to pop WoTB etc.
Personally, I would like to see a WW Aspect or Gohrs Unique that allows you to use Skills while Channeling WW. Could be some or all Skills. Being able to IS, Ground Stomp, Steel Grasp, WoTB, CoTA, and Shout while WW would be awesome.

Ww is gonna be really good. Stop with the bs. Give it a chance before you complain. I guarantee we are gonna have some awesome ww builds. It’s gonna be a great season.
Luckily my build already isn’t reliant on 3 shouts and never used the marshal glyph to begin with. Only thing changing about my build this patch is 40%x damage boost from unconstrained and more fury per second from echoing fury, which is going to feed my damage buffs and fortify that much faster.
there’s no hard content this season. WW will utterly destroy everything NM100 lvl with decent gear and a few snap shots.
Whirlwind’s problem is that it is a Channeling ability and the entire rest of the Barbarian Skill Tree and Paragon is all based on On-Cast. They even explicitly push you to Channel longer which ends up most mechanics falling off. It has terrible Lucky Hit penalty, so the idea of it being able to consistently sustain Berserk refresh and Vuln application is uh slim.
No matter what window dressing they do, it will be subpar because it is Channeled and everything Whirlwind points to sustaining your Channel for a period of time to even start to realize maximum benefit. It does not Overpower, so you lose that entire bucket.
In order for Whirlwind to be “fixed” they need to allow you to cast some Skills while Whirlwind is active - problem solved. No reason why:
- Shouts
- Iron Skin
- Ground Stomp
- WoTB
- CoTA
Should not be able to be cast while Whirlwind is channeling. It would be amazing if Gohr’s was changed so you can also cast Weapon Mastery Skills while Whirlwind is being channeled. It would change the Skills to be a PbAoE insta-cast.
This means Bleed Whirlwind would absolutely be a thing as you could lay pools down with Rupture and proc Gushing Wounds. Steelgrasp would be an AoE pull and much needed Berserk/Vuln application. Deathblow would be a godly synergy and give you Berserk or more sustain with Fury.
Most importantly, this would mean while Whirlwind does not Overpower, you could still build to OP.
Did I mention a WA LeapQuake option setting down Quakes and standing in them as you spin (basically Bathe in Blood S2 Power restored).
An Unconstrained Barbarian Perma Zerk Barbarian throwing out Overkill Deathblows all around you?
Iron Skin Temerity WW Barbarian with Melted Heart as tanky as you can get?

Fow WW attack speed shoud increase WW damage by X (multiplier),because WW is channeled skill. In some other games, if skill is channeled - attack speed doesn’t affect it for attacking faster, but increase channeled skill damage.
And for weapon type: 2H blunt 0.9x base multiplier, 2H sword 1x mutiplier, Dual-wield 1.3X multiplier (they should not affect attack speed for channeled skills)
They do that and you end up with the BL debacle. The same thing is requested for Bleeds to tick faster. In my above solution, while it would not affect WW, you are now getting some insta-cast abilities which makes up for it (no animations that stop WW).
But Season 3 is all about Charge!

Charge/Anything will be very popular this season though; there’s nothing that specifically will cause Charge to inherently synergize with WW, just charge will be so strong that most builds will be using it anyways.
