Rip Sorc Hydra build

Here is video from secon beta. Sorc has 700 atack power and 50% damage at full mana and double hydra legendary.

I dont think this damage was so OP that has to be nerfed.

Anyway rip. Video is full dungeon clear.

Blizzard has a history of caving into demands of whiny melee players. Been this way since classic WoW. This time it’s barbs who got sorcs nerfed into the ground. Disgusting, yet completely expected :frowning:

There are many more viable builds man!

:peace_symbol:

Hydra is still one that belongs on your bar. It no longer solos the game for you but it never should have

And i don’t disagree.

Yeah oh man waaaoow yeah… Hydra is totally not viable any more. Guess I’ll leave to 75 and ignore it because it’s not good at levels we haven’t played at either.

The nerf did not hurt it nearly as bad you might think. It is still quite useful. and we don’t know what the balance will feel like at late to end game.

God the D4 forums have made me super sarcastic. Don’t know if I like it, lol.

Wow the high damage auto-targeting ability got nerfed?

It is deranged to think “Barbarians” had anything to do with an insanely overpowered ability getting nerfed to the ground. I barely played barbarian but I did try out all the different builds of sorcerer that I could and as soon as I got Hydra I was like “LOL this is for sure getting nerfed”.

It’s still viable, but hydra is not the “main” I WIN skill anymore, it’s just complimentary to the fire build as another burning generator source.

Main build and skill is Firewall now, with the help of 2 other skills that causes burning (hydra is one) so you can benefit from the passive of increased damage against burning enemies if 3 or more unique burning skills were used.

Hydra is still fine support damage, as it was meant to be. Nothing but overreaction.

? go play d2 barb or just read the forums over there

wow has favored ranged for a long time as well. only dragonflight did feel a bit more melee friendly this time around.

what blizzard game heavily favors melee? OW? lul
seriously, i cant find one.

We truly do not know how any builds will turn out until release, and it will take at least a week for no lifers to figure out optimal gear/tree and tell us how these builds work out.

Yeah, Hydra definitely wasn’t the issue with sorc. It had mediocre damage, but strong utility because you could kite things around it. Now it’s just useless as a skill. I don’t know why they didn’t just nerf the fireball enchant. Hydra was far from the problem there.

You shush about that fireball enchant!! We Sorc’s don’t want to lose it. :sob:

Yeah I’m maining sorc too. I probably should shut up.

melee has been terrible since post vanilla.

I still used Hydra in the Server Slam. Granted it was combined with Firewall, so the kiting was still effective.

Depending on how they rebalance classes before release, I might go with it again. I posted a build up in Theorycrafters Haven thread on what I may go with.

isnt there hydra boosting nodes in paragon? i think you should wait and see from retail if its the end of the skill maybe
it was clearly too strong before, the change was sorta obvious that it was coming

I started out using Hydra but just gave up on it because it was just so slow and painful to use. Felt like molasses. I know people were using it to trigger firewall enchant, but I don’t think that actually works. Everything’s already on fire because the firewall and the damage does stack, But I don’t think the proc rate of a burning enemy can stack.

Maybe I’m wrong on that. If so then I’ll have to bring hydra back I guess. Need to do more testing. There’s also a reported bug that the burning caused by Hydra doesn’t trigger the firewall enchant at all, anyway. Wasn’t fixed from the last beta.

I end up replacing Hydra with frost Nova. It’s just too good with that vulnerability and CC.
