TL:DR Between 4 World Tiers, Adventure and Campaign modes, and now in the future being just teleported straight into Nightmare Dungeons… where is this open world Diablo game going? Personally, I hope they don’t do this and instead try to continue to bring players together in more fun ways (because currently following someone else with an overpowered build who is smashing things in Legion Events before you can even get there is not fun… and following others has never been fun in any ARPG, but that’s not the point of this thread).
So, of course none of us really know what will happen to the open world things (small events, Grim Favor, and even just seeing another player, etc.) But i get the feeling that this idea the devs have of making the nightmare dungeons just teleport you to the dungeon is pretty lame, and it very well might make the game feel even more lonely.
We already have the entire player base in game split between 4 tiers, as well as Adventure or Campaign mode. If the devs add on to this that activating a Nightmare dungeon will just teleport you to said dungeon… does no one else foresee even more division?
I get that there were already people that were just burning rubber straight to dungeons over and over, ignoring everything else along the way, but that was not the majority. But this new feature will make it so that ANY player that wants to do a Nightmare dungeon will completely skip over riding across the map and potentially stopping along the way to do things with other players.
I just think that there is a better way to address the “issue”. To be honest… I don’t even know what the issue is. It’s an open world game. It has been since development started. It has always been promoted as an open world game. Tons of people played the beta and experienced this open world game. And every one of them, all the way, have decided to buy this game knowing that it was open world. Only to segregate it from multiple angles? I just don’t get the point.
This game takes the worst aspects of MMOs to try and draw in people who have quit WoW.
The world they created is pretty cool, but the game would be fine without it. They are not going to find player retention by trying to turn an ARPG into an MMO Lite.
Why are people complaining about this? It really just shows that people will find a negative about every single change. This is a QOL issue for people who like to run Nightmare Dungeons. There are still world bosses, Legions, the Tree of Whispers, Helltides, and quests in the open world etc.
Please think before you complain about things. If some people only want to run Nightmare Dungeons and their life has been made a little bit better it will not hurt you in any way.
Blizzard did not create the open world for it to be empty. Presently, Helltides are a very good reason to go into it and Blizzard will keep adding content requiring or making it worthwhile to interact with it.
If they add a group finder, that should solve the problem. Right now, even though it is an “open world” people are just passing each other by on their way to their next destination.
On their LOOOOOOOONG way to their next destination, so the insta-port to the dungeon of your choice is a huge win.
Please think before you respond generically… This is NOT only for people that like to only run Nightmare Dungeons, it’s for everyone that EVER runs a Nightmare Dungeon. I personally liken traveling to the dungeon. I do things along the way… that’s my point. In the future there would be no reason to do that, because there will be no “on the way”.
People cant let go of Baal Runs and doing grifts from towns. These dudes is stuck in the past and want every game they play to be an exact replica of either D2 or D3. The D2 and D3 fanatics go at eachothers throats constantly even though they are more alike than theyd like to admit.
Unfortunately, people who enjoy D4 for not being a D2 or D3 replica are catching strays as these forum brigaders come up with every excuse in the book to invalidate the open world.
They disliked the open world idea from the time it was announced. This was never about renown or side quests.
Well you can always look at the dungeon name on the key, mark it on the map, go all the way there and then click on the key when you are already at the entrance.
No. My issue is not ME personally going there. Unless you’re under the impression that I alone am the open world. You think I’m all the other people in the game? You’re idea is cute at best… but ridiculous nonetheless. If a feature exists, it’s going to be used by most, if they would rather use it or not. That’s what happens. Again, cute idea, but my concerns remain unchanged.
You are referring to the betas in which we were restricted to 1 Act and only level 25? How would any of us know what the end game would actually be?
If they’d integrate proper chat networks and group finding mechanisms (IDIOTIC DECISION TO NOT INCLUDE THIS IN RELEASE, YES BLIZZARD PERSON I’M TALKING TO YOU), the game wouldn’t feel lonely.
Helltides suck. I hate gaming on an MMO schedule. I don’t want to plan my time around MMO activities. This idea should be completely revamped. It’s essentially a Rift from D3. Might as well just go all the way and copy/paste Rifts into Lilith.
AFAIK, nobody I ever gamed with on any Diablo game EVER wanted an MMO with a garbage horse.
They had a winning formula to follow, and instead this new generation of producers wanted to reinvent the wheel.
All they had to do was take the good features from D2/D3/other leading examples in the industry, and copy/paste those into Lilith with an updated game engine. It was a simple task. They had to put their touch on it, and in the name of “innovation”, it’s a trainwreck.
The game’s graphics are just washed out; even D3 had better graphics. If Lilith’s graphics didn’t have the color saturation turned low, it’d be a very bright, yet monochromatic presentation.
Yuck. Yuck all around. Just bad. Blizzard needs to fire the leadership team and bring in somebody that can fix this mess.
This is no a rebuttal of my point. Not knowing what the end game will be, and thinking it would be opposite of what we were constantly told it would be, as well as what we experienced to reinforce what we were told… are completely different things.
That would be a better step in the right direction. Grouping up and doing whats there now, instead of just cutting a corner and throwing people away from one another and into an instance alone.
This is so nearsighted, it’s pathetic. Everyone is always going to b___h about something. Calling this game a train-wreck is so spoiled that I question your maturity.
Subjective, not helpful… completely off topic because you’re just here on the forums to rant… clearly.
Yuck. Yuck all around. Just bad. Blizzard needs to police useless posters like yourself off of these forums and leave actual concerns and debates to those that can actually hang with constructive criticisms and ideas.
