As the title suggests: Ring of Mendeln does not work. Some guy did a 10 minute video explaining why it does not work. Its just so boring. Farmed and bought so much gear just to barely clear pit 70+. It should not be too hard to fix. Please for the love of god fix it I cant believe you are still not doing it why???
Because minion builds were always neglected by Blizzard, there is little chance they will fix them before the mid-season patch due to the fact that the Necromancer already has two excellent builds: Blood Wave and Bone Spear. I have always played Necromancer with minions in any game that featured the class, and after seven seasons in which Blizzard literally insulted the minion player base, I would rather either play Bone Spear in Diablo 4 or switch to another game where the Necromancer is a legitimate summoner.
they promise that it might be fixed in season nine

Hopefully its the same dev removing easy to farm alter locations from the game as soon as they are posted on Reddit. That dev works fast!
i feel like if we don’t get a fix in the next week we will be lucky to get it addressed in the mid season patch.

gz! if you are going to play minions its still BIS. Also I kind of expect them to fix it… I feel like its a glaring issue for a class that is currently one of the best with blood wave.
They will see the metrics of blood wave dominating and minion necro doing zdps… hopefully that makes them do some digging and they look at the tone of bug reports on the ring.

I haven’t bought/sold anything this season. I cannot bring myself to do it yet… once i find a GG unique/legendary that I know ill get good gold for I will do it… and then buy some BIS gear. Right now with semi junk gear, lvl 60 glyphs and my witch powers/gems sorted i did a very very slow pit 89. But Im still missing my mythic chest, weapon and proper masterworking along with key GA items.
I do freeze and stun and CC everything real gud with 200% lucky hit and a freeze and stun temper. I dropped tendrils as Its too slow in hordes and general gameplay. Useful in pit push but Im not doing that.
Skills:
Bone Cage - More multiplier on bosses.
Blood Whatever its called - Break CC And immunity 3 seconds. So nice.
Army of Dead - Main damage dealer as it scales from our bonus masteries
Blight - Just for 20% minion boost
Skeleton - Just hit when they need health
Golem - Bread and butter hulk smash and kill everythang.
Runes -
Activator - 5 power when you CC something and double if not a slow. WE CC so much its nuts as 200% lucky hit from fist of fate and fist of fate CC power with a freeze on helm and a stun on boots.
Wolves - More physical damage scaling with that one paragon node. Switch to more life on pit push. I just like more guys it looks coo.
Activator - Have summons out
Reduce CD on ultimate 1second
Dont need:
Corpse Tendril - My minions have 100% crit chance from growth up 100% of time and the bonus 50% crit damage is only on the enemies hit by this and its just too cumbersome and slow in general gameplay. Im doing much better after dropping it. Useful in pit push I think though.
Corpse explode. The golem blows up corpses to reset his cd and triggers the corpse keystone passive in paragon. You do lose a darkness skill for movement and 8% damage loss though.
Crest - We dont really use the +4 all skills (except ultimate it would help) and with CD on amulet and CD on helm and CD reducing rune our CD is ok. I am using the super op Shroud instead but actual p4wnyhof build uses crest but it also uses pointed finger without a hex in setup. Have to test crest with lego chest. Cant use both because of aspects needed.
Gems current:
Toad Wish - 35% common grow powers of soul harvest and grow so far
Pointy Finger - 15% summon dmg vs hexed

Hex of Flames - activate coven eldritch. Damage seems low but it seems to also trigger CC. Who knows.
Aura of Misfortune - activate coven psyche (Others dont work). Its not bad as you get movespeed too.

Breath of the Coven - omega% attack speed and 25% lucky hit? yes please.
The Cycle - activate coven. ITs not bad really. I like it. Flowers heal me and maybe it lucky hits as everything freezes!
Power Going for - summon theme

Frog - more guy
Breath Coven - In theory voice of stars on ultimate gives us 3 stacks of coven as it counts for all three
Soul Harvest - yummy stats
Grow - BiS for minion guy out of all powers. Guaranteed crits. Makes half of corpse tendril aspect useless

4 GA breeches and mendy ring so far as good items and grandfather all stats GA.
I have no way to gain resource back that well as lament is broken so I dont blight stuff that much.
I like my version because u have so many summons its rediculous.
Also I am using the physical minions to see if it scales more from the passive that gives physical damage per minion but Im not sure yet and dont know because skellies and golem have no actual tag of what they are. We just assume cold skelies are cold and shadow damage skellies are shadow but who knows. So I have bone golem every 2nd attack is shockwave and reapers and bouncing testing shadow mages with other mages.
This thread needs to be bumped. Seriously – Blizzard support says “Take it to the forums and we’ll be able to address it” … Yeah, I’m calling bullspit on that one.
Blizzard, it’s time to take a hard look at this ring and make some changes. The Ring of Mendeln currently accounts for 90-95% of a minion Necromancer’s damage output, and—surprise—it’s bugged again.
Right now, the ring isn’t functioning as intended. Aspects aren’t being applied to its damage, and this needs to be addressed. Every season, there’s another issue with minions: we’re either overperforming because of a bug or underperforming because of one.
I’m not sure if this issue is specific to PC players, so I’ll share this feedback in other forums as well. But honestly, if content creators can crunch the numbers and identify these problems, why can’t the developers who made the game?
It’s stunning that in every Season there is something wrong / not working with the summons.
If the Shop is not working, they shure as hell would fix it in a few days.
Just keep trying, the more difficult the circumstances, the more interesting it is. This is what distinguishes us from those who like to launch waves of fikalia.
By the way, who has what result in the pit with minions?
I usually search youtube minion pit runs daily each season and this season there are ZERO push videos. Pretty sure the only pit video ive found period was from today from a newer player doing pit 4.
From not just this thread but the Necromancer minion damage multiplier not working from paragon/tempering thread the ring is the least of the problems. It sounds like on the surface the ring looks like the problem but once you open the hood there is a whole slew of things not working with minions. It honestly sounds like minions have so much going wrong with them that id be surprised if its fixed by the next season. Im sure some of it will be fixed, hopefully the ring but then people will be more vocal about all the other problems and or new broken stuff going on. Its crazy how hard minions have fallen since the stat squish/expansion that we paid 70$-100$ for.
What also gets me is that this had to of been known before the launch of the season. All the streamers who usually go minion Necro conveniently all went with a different class this season.
ive cleared t90 so far but i haven’t really tried to push and glyphs are not maxed yet which are a big power source. doesn’t really matter though blood wave builds are pushing 140-150 which is like 10, 20, 30x more powerful than my nearly maxxed out build.
ive not done much pit, but I have done 89, though my glyphs are all about 60 and ive not used diablo.trade so far so gear is quite horrible. I have one or two items that I could sell on diablo.trade so might sell something and make a few billion gold from the RMT guys, to sink into some good items.
Im also playing a homebrew build with soulrift, so I know I could easily be clearing a lot faster with army of the dead, but I was completely turned off that ultimate on the season 7 PTR. Its bad enough mendeln out damages minions, I didn’t want my minions to be both support to mendeln and support to my ult.
As always, I agree with you. I also play through soulrift and to be honest, it’s damn hard. Even with 3 mythics and 100 glyphs, I barely closed the 100th hole.

I started out as minon nerco as well. I just saw this post of ring of Mandel is broken again? I have to say tho yesterday I went from t3 to t4 and yes it is a little challenge but it didn’t seem bad, I can still kill tormented bosses. besides Andy’s of course hate that boss. No Ubers at first when I got to t4. then of course before I went to bed undercity drops a heir of pendant helmet. Do we know what’s bugged with the ring ?
yes, macrobioboi tested it extensively, his conclusions were great feast and reanimation do not work with mendeln. He made one assumption which he didn’t test which was unyielding commander probably also doesn’t work with the ring.
He also just tested all passives, glyphs, aphexes etc etc with minions (not the ring) and found everything is working as intended.
This made absolute sense to me as I knew how powerful mendeln was from season 6 as i tested with and without using the ring in all content and it was night and day. basically minions were poor damage in season 6 compared to other builds, and are slightly improved (grow witch power etc) in season 7, but now minus mendeln carry.
