Reveal Maps on ALTS

Alts should share fog of war progression. Made an alt & to my surprise, I have to run around the map again, quite annoying.

Basically, in my opinion it should all sync with alts, lilith statues, side quest progression, dungeon progression, renown progression etc.

I know the stats carry over from the statues and the renown, but it would be nice to continue the adventure on an alt and not have to reloot/rediscover it all.

If I skip the campaign, the entire map should be revealed. The only reason it isn’t is because of Renown. I hate it.

Do they genuinely expect people to rediscover the entire map on every single alt they play?

I really don’t think they thought through the Renown system. After experiencing it, I feel it has more cons than pros, and I hope it doesn’t remain a core feature of the game in the future.

I agree. I spent the last two days grabbing all the altars and revealing the whole map on my main. When I make an alt, I expect to not have to do all that again.

Funny. But I would say that this is not necessary, well, except for the found altars of Lilith, they could be noted … Although their description says that they increase the characteristics of all characters in the world … Is it interesting how it works?

Yes.
I have explored every area fully and got all the altars aswell.

Alts need to have map revealed and also the altar locations shown so I dont have to tab out to check them every time i make a new character, if i chose to grind the character specific renown rewards again (xp and gold)

Does this mean alts do not get access to all waypoints as well?

Only a few of them…nothing close to all of the waypoints.

The system discourages alts which discourages re-play motivation. This decision was just plain silly.

I agree with everything stated here 100%, I was definitely surprised by all this.

Here’s an idea:

  • The map should be uncovered but slightly darkened to see where your alt hasn’t been, but it should have everything that you have already discovered on any other characters waypoints, altars, everything you’ve already done.

Isn’t the whole point of renowned so you don’t have to do the whole grind all over again?! They need to finish up working this system and get it polished. Not really useable at this point for alts. I was excited to hop in and play an alt quick and then encountered this :frowning:

Yes, it is incredibly shortsighted to say the least to not allow alts the access to the whole map and waypoints, I don’t understand this decision at all, it is extremely frustrating.

It’s the devs intended design for you to enjoy the immersion and explore the same static maps for each and every character while riding your horse!!! Don’t tell me you expected to slay demons? lol

You get all the main city waypoints and your horse. The rest of the map is left unexplored so you can have ways to get renown to get the extra xp. All the important renown stuff is already unlocked. All the tree bounties and world events show up on the map so it’s no big deal to just pin it and goto the zone and take the few seconds to ride out to them, while getting the exploration XP and renown

To be fair a new character is a new person so why should they be able to see the map of an area they have never been to before

These happens when they generate ideeas and content based on the same system used in WoW already.

The way the dungeons are created, it feels like they were randomly generated out of 10 actual themes, in the worst way possible.

System imputs: make players waste as much time as possible so the MaU numbers and KPIs look great on the quarterly reports so the investors will be happy.

System outputs recommandations:

  • priority #1 cash shop needed
  • priority #2 the game should be based on a type of system like all free to play games are based on, but it will cost higher then ever
  • priority #3 even being a live system game, and being based on battle passes, players will still play for new content with the forced utilization on xpacs.
  • make a large map where they will need to walk/galoop in order to reach the content they “would like to actually play”.
  • make leveling process as slow and painful as it can get.
  • make all exploration content in game be needed to be redone on each alt
  • make limited time events so players stay up as more as possible to play their fun favorite content.

And the list goes on with mostly booring, tedious, bland, washed up, mmorpg style and mobile-gaming style techniques in order to keep players as boored as possible until they can actually have fun.

My observation of leveling alts (solo at least): Holy cow they really don’t want me to level an alt!

This is actually one of my issues with the game. Like, you sit down to play with friends and just can’t play the content you want because you have to wait X time for it to spawn… Never thought would see such a thing in a diablo game honestly

Usually I don’t play BETA phases, because I get boored of repeating the leveling part and spoiling the story and not finishing it etc.
But because I have 20 years of Diablo 2 and 3 in the background, I couldn’t stay off the hype train, and the items rewarded for participating the BETA weren’t helping me stay away either.

BUT, the moment I’ve seen “Ashava event starting in 29mins” in game map, I said in my mind: “I left WoW, in march, after 18 years, in order to play what I want when I want, to end up in a miniWoWcopycat version in Diablo”.

Why do the devs think this is fun ? Hell I was pleased when they borrowed things from diablo and inserted them in WoW (daily chest - resembling Diablo 3’s adventure mode and bounty system; zone event quests ) because they were qol improvements in WoW.

But adding WoW features in Diablo … that is just downgrading Diablo.

Also, in Diablo, the borrowed “mythic+” system implemented in those washedup dungeons, where no matter the key you do, you ge tthe same random gear. You could get lvl 800 in an tier 21 nightmare doungen, and ilvl 700 ina tier 75 nightmare dungeon.

Bad bad bad from start to finish, copy pastying while not even copy pasting the entire thing, just the parts that result in “TIMESINKING, time wasting systems”.

MOB reset in diablo ? MOB reset when you mount up a horse ? What kind of indie gameplay mechanics are those, feels like an alpha game want to be AARPG.

Evey decision Blizzard has done, was to eliminate the fun out of their games. You could have kited a WORLD BOSS in a town, you could have make all kinds of mindblowing things implying buffs and debuffs. But they’ve cut the … possibilities in order to have a “SAFE SPACE” for every player. Why not make all the games single player, so everyone lives in its own instance of the game then …
