I’m a returning player from season 1 and basically skipped seasons 2-4. As a returning player in season 5 (and skipping the campaign), is there anything I should focus on or disregard?
In season 1, I believe the end game loop was doing NMD’s and helltides. Are these still a thing worth doing?

Helltides have been massively improved and are the fastest way to level/acquire gear until WTIII. Once you can do WTIII/IV, it’s generally better to start doing NMD because they’re one of, if not the best ways to gain exp and you’ll eventually need the glyph exp anyway. Infernal Hordes which were introduced in S5 are also a great way to gain gear/exp/gold once you unlock them, but you’ll have to finish the seasonal quest first to unlock them (and them infernal compasses will start dropping from Helltide chests.)
It’s vastly improved from S1, so have fun!
Yea that’s probably true… But really you should only be in WTIII for like an hour or two so it’s not a big swing either way.

Side question - I remember season 1 being pretty lonely in terms of the social aspect of the game and we relied on discord to find parties. Is the game more social now…? Currently don’t see anyone around towns, may be because I’m still in WT2, but are there people in higher WT’s?
Still very much a single-player game. However there are several discords (Wudijoo’s/Maxrolls etc) where you can usually find people looking for groups for Hordes and Tormented Bosses. The latter are a way to farm uniques/mythic uniques, and you usually do them in rotations (one person summons but everyone in party gets drops.) Which as a side-note is a big reason you should be doing helltides/whispers/hordes… The items to summon these bosses (exquisite blood, malignant hearts, Stygian Stones) come from completing whispers, killing the Maiden in helltides and opening Horde/Helltide chests. Also probably save them until you can do tormented rotations at level 100, as they tend to be very very valuable late-game (people are regularly paying 20mil+ per these days)
Definitely more people in higher world tiers. You’re also coming in almost halfway through the season. This season will only last 2 months total. The expansion is Oct 8th with Season 6. Coincidentally enough it will also have a party finder.
