Heey guys, I started playing Diablo again through Game Pass after almost 10 years of stopping with Reaper of Souls and I would like to ask a question. Does anyone have any idea when the Demon Hunter class will be added to the game? It was my main and favorite too and I really miss it and lost some fun playing the game. I’m not up to date with the latest game news, so I need your help. Thanks
Doubtful ever if we’re being honest. Rogue fills that same role with very similar, if not identical at times, abilities.

In your Dreams
Well let’s look at it objectively.
The Demon Hunter has a mostly ranged arsenal of skills and gear, a choice of 1 pet, mobility options, and devices of varying kinds (traps and sentries).
The Rogue is more assassin like, they have access to both melee and ranged skills, imbuements, traps, mobility and concealment skills.
There is plenty of overlap between the two classes in terms of skills.
Hungering Arrow (D3) – Penetrating Shot (D4)
Rapid Fire (Both Games)
Rain of Vengeance (D3) – Rain of Arrows (D4)
Caltrops (Both games)
Vault (D3) – Dash (D4)
Smoke Screen (D3) – Smoke Grenade/Concealment (D4)
Spike Trap (D3) – Poison / Death Trap (D4)
Multishot (D3) – Barrage (D4) Very similar but not necessarily the same of course
Rune Choices that change the Element type of damage and add other benefits (D3) – Imbuements (D4)
Rogue is more of a mix of the Assassin from D2 and the Demon Hunter from D3. For this reason I don’t see Demon Hunter making a comeback, as the Rogue fills that role of ranged DPS with bows. While it’s not entirely the same, it fills the same role and niche of the Demon Hunter. Now I wouldn’t mind if the DH made a comeback, I just don’t see it happening in this game is all.
Say hello to the new Demon Hunter…. The Rogue!
doubtful we will see similar classes as in d3, as per lore, they are basically prodigy nephalem, compared to what we got now. so yea, id agree with iggi, that the rogue pretty much is what the demon hunter is in d3, just not quite as mighty.
im pretty glad about that. a lot of d3 had that “allmighty” touch to it, and im glad d4 toned that down a bit.
And just boring The skill I like best Strafe gone
Used it by choice in both D2 & D3
Again, nothing wrong with that, I’m just showing objectively why it will probably never make a comeback in D4. On the bright side you always have D3 to go back to. Good luck to you.
They replaced the DH with the Rogue in D4.
You cannot do that with some of the people on this forum. By the way good review.
Actually D2 and then D3
They are adding in two weeks. You are in luck!

Nobody can answer this one. The next class we get in D4 will be with the Expansion coming in Dec 2024 and the class will be something we’ve never seen in any Diablo before (or any ARPG for that matter) per the devs.
Now you know what we know
I think what Iggi said is pretty accurate. However, for those who miss some of the skills of the DH, don’t despair. New skills for all classes will likely be added in the first expansion, meaning that we may see some DH skills come back within the Rogue’s skill tree.
Actually, it appears we’re getting a Demon Hunter style mechanic after all.
a) Equip Tyriel’s Might
b) Start Whirlwinding
c) Enjoy.
At least you can make it look like a pirouetting demon hunter shooting projectiles 360 degrees.
The Rogue really fails at capturing the fun of the D3 Demon Hunter. I consider the Rogue to be a failure at delivering ranged build diversity and fun.
While I don’t necessarily disagree with you, I just don’t view Rogue as the Demon Hunter replacement myself, nor was it really meant to be in my opinion. It has a different vibe and feel to it all together. It’s about mobility and preciseness. Demon Hunter was more about brute force, spray and pray if you will. Their approaches to skills will obviously be different, even if they act similar or the same way.
It’s like comparing a bazooka to an assassin’s knife. Both will get the job one, one just requires more accuracy then the other.
Well… This is very, very sad to know now. I understand the issue of skills you mentioned but, the rogue is a spirit less class for me. Completely generic boring and don’t has the same ranged power of the DH by my tests. But what hits me most, it’s that the entire DH ambience is gone, his infinitely more interesting lore and everything else around him. And everything was thrown away by a generic and stupid class to play, without the same fun as DH.
And with everything people said after you, I don’t understand why Blizzard couldn’t just release the two with the game. The rogue a melee assassin, with one or another ranged skills to help him. And the DH, the main ranged assassin of the game. Ah… Just Blizzard beign Blizzard nowdays.
I actually agree with you here. D3 basically combined the best parts of a Bowazon from D2 and some versatility from the Assassin in D2 (not a lot, but just enough). Where as D4 just combined DH from D4 and Assassin from D2.
I would have loved to see the DH come back in some fashion that was focused purely on physical ranged damage, and the Rogue would be the melee assassin type. Probably would’ve seen a lot of interesting skills in both classes. Sadly we have more of a jack of both trades that doesn’t quite fill the niche of either class at the moment.
I still enjoy the rogue, but I completely get what you’re saying. I feel it could’ve been made better as well.
You ain’t getting bloody Demon Hunters before we get Paladins.
Take a number and get in line.
