Return of Primal Ancients

I think the game really needs a primal ancient reward at the end of the seasonal journey. It was always the most exciting and rewarding part of a season for me in D3.

In terms of rarity they need to be as rare if not more rare than the original mythics so you cant just farm them and you really look forward to seeing which one u get at the end of a journey.

And even if the one you get is not good for your class, you can vault it for one of your other characters or maybe it gets you to start a 2nd character that season to use it.

Yeah it’s called a 3GA that actually has good affixes and it’s already in the game…

…except it’s really not because I’ve never seen one, EVER.

:joy: :joy: :joy: :sob: :sob: :sob:

(I couldn’t speak to season rewards, though.)

I got a perfect 3GA item once. The sad part is with tempering the way it is, it’s more beneficial to sell perfect items rather than risk bricking them.

There are never good affixes, there is a high chance of getting life for 5s or resistance to ice. I agree with OP, we should have another layer of items and perhaps with a greater power range.

For example, Penitent Greaves ancestral 25% and primal 30%. But make them ultra rare. Maybe it is worth changing your entire build to play with that item.

I don’t dislike the idea in principle, but there’s already virtually no progression beyond the first GA (1, maybe 2) in any slot, legendary or unique. I don’t see the point of having a rarer tier on top of that.

3ga items already exist.

Yes tempering still covers 2 of the 5 stats.

I’ve gotten a few of them, sadly none that I could actually use.

Oh yeah I’ve gotten a few over the last year but most were instant salvage. I have a couple in my stash I might be able to trade but I’m not using a janky third-party website for that.

3ga
1 max life
1 life per second

Dont get me wrong, im not generally against such ideas. But id say these things should be put into future considerations, once d4 finally decides on how grindy and difficult it wants to be. Adding anything of the likes will just further increase the discussions on “how easy or hard” things should be.

Today i got no like for you sketch <3 :stuck_out_tongue:

Mmm OK, but once I finish the season journey then I’m done with the game until the next season… so the reward is pointless.

I really support this idea if primal Will Have higher Stats then GA ,never can be target farm.i liked mythic in S1 when were really rare And when you got this you knew that you Are speciál .Now IT Is necessery And feeling from droping Is not that good anymore

Max life is good (in hardcore mode at least). The other 2 are crap though. if at least one of them was usable you could reroll the 3rd GA into a useful nonGA but yeah… Tough luck.

I recently found a 3ga gloves with main stat, max life, and i think overpower damage. Not yet sure what to do with the overpower part of it but pretty good otherwise. Seem great for an overpower build maybe but +skills is probably better than overpower damage.

Why introduce this when all they going to do is nerf it? For example, when a season doesn’t get enough MTX sales, they go on a nerf hunt.

So when ppl become complacent with primal gear, they nerf it; because that season didn’t generate revenue.

I don’t mind a new tier as long as you can only equip one per character (like the original concept of mythic items having multiple legendary affixes but only 1 at the same time).

I’ve seen one or two. I actually had some 3ga pants in season 6. Nothing since.

Personally, I’d like to see them add Sets back in the game as a chase item. Along the same design as in D3, whereas the more pieces of a set are equipped, the more benefits you gain. Make the drop rate between Ancestrals and Mythics, e. g. if Ancestrals drop @ 10%, and Mythics drop @ .0003%, make Sets drop @ approx. .5%-1%. Just an idea.

At a drop rate like that, they’d be basically pointless. You might get a single piece, but you’d be incredibly unlikely to get a full set. So the single item would have to be at least the equivalent of a really good unique or legendary + aspect or you’d never even equip it, it would just bang around in your inventory.

A lot of people suggest sets without explaining how they’d be on par with the stats + aspect they’d replace. Each bonus would have to at least be the equivalent in power to as many aspects as it displaced, and individually they’d have to be overpowered to ever equip one without getting a bonus. Then they’re all overpowered so itemization becomes even more pigeonholed.

This worked a bit better in D3 because legendary powers were slot-specific and you might not have one in a slot you’d replace with a set item that didn’t unlock a bonus; and the set item at least had legendary stats (and probably affixes that worked towards your build, too.)

The key issue is that sets

would not work well in D4 without some major changes. They’re both less versatile than aspects, and you would never equip any until you had enough for a set bonus.

Be interesting if any full-star Ancestral had a chance to become a Primal, which additionally maxed the aspect or unique power.

Honestly, I think it would be a good idea because it offers the game an opportunity to offer “better loot”. I think the game lacks these kinds of opportunities. Of course, the game would need to drop more full-star Ancestrals for this to be at all useful.

Or maybe Primal is an independent roll from ancestral, allowing the aspect or unique roll to max, with the chance increasing the more stars there are.
