Retired necro for now

Had to retire my Necro. The minion build needs major buffs as it is unusable. My barb is just melting everything in sight while my necro cant do anything.

What level were you?

My necro was level 51

My 60 Necro melts everything. There’s problems but at level 50 they aren’t even noticable.

try using minions to do anything.

I am. 6 warriors, 5 mages, 1 golem. Using mage Blizzard thing, attack speel when they hit stuff, more minions = damage reduction, paragon board in minions (I forget the name). It works pretty well until the end game. Level 50 isn’t end game.

My only complaint right now is that the passive at the bottom should be when healthy for 3s not when you don’t take damage for 3s.

One thing I did just notice, every single necro aspect are legendary drops only. You literally can’t go to a dungeon and get a single aspect which improves your minions.

who cares if it is not end game. You can not get to end game as the builds are totally broken. A standard minion build should not require every single legendary and aspect to be minimally functional. My barb melts everything in sight without all the aspects and any legendaries.

Full minion/CE build (no basic or core skills), been doing wt4 since lvl 61 and improving with every level/piece of gear.
Does it ‘melt’ like your warrior, no — but is it capable to use still, yes
*also yes I would still take a buff to make it more competitive, but I also enjoy the challenge it’s making to maximize the build right now

Sacrifice the minions and go bone dude my lvl 67 crit for 388k last night

Now I am obviously still progressing and I cannot talk for WT4 or higher levels but I played through the story at WT2 and am 59 and WT3 right now (highest nightmare dungeon was level 17) and I had zero problems so far. In fact everything just, well, melts as people say.

I always read about these necro problems and don’t get me wrong, I do believe that people are telling the truth and that I will run into them eventually, but so far everything goes pretty smooth.

how do you keep your minions from getting insta killed? I have all the passives.

Mine is like lvl 79 doing CE Minions as well, able to do around nm 45 stuff decently enough but it’s just a CE build at the end of hte day, it’s like the fact I took every minion aspect I could, dedicate my full paragon board to minions, got mendeln and even tried the thorns armor, none of that crap matters, it’s just Blighted aspect carrying with OP CE spam, it’s such a joke.

Investing this much into minions, and yet I still need to carry them across the finish line with some other skill like CE spam abusing an OP aspect aka Blighted. This isn’t fun, when what I wanted to do was just invest EVERYTHING into my summons and let them unleash hell on my behalf as I watch with a grin, but apparently not.

This “we want to encourage active gameplay” mentality is pure cancer imo, it’s like every dev overcompensates the moment they have a pet class anymore, where they don’t want it to be “just another passive build” when that’s precisely what many people want out of a pet class, passive DPS, it’s awesome and it’s all I want to play, and I don’t know why they can’t see that.

They don’t even have to make that the only way to play summons, but what kills me is they freaking give an option to sacrifice the minions outright sooner than they give the option to go all in on the minions, imagine that…

I like when anyone says “Minions are fine because I’m doing fine with them”

Meanwhile Barbs/Druid/Rogue/Sorc are flying at lightspeed compared to you. You’re like an old lady with a walker and they are blowing past you in a McLaren.

That’s not okay in a game that incentivizes clear speed and killing as many monsters as possible in the shortest amount of time. You just plain get more loot and exp that way.

Funny because I’d consider a Barb holding down WW or a Druid spamming Pulverize and one shotting the entire screen to be passive gameplay. Whereas Summoner Necro right now is one of the most involved builds in terms of micromanagement for keeping up buffs and procs. High effort for low reward.

Christ, lets whine about playing a game but not wanting to play the game…

They do quite well at that level actually. 6 cold mages for essence and 6 reaper for corpses. 70% heal every 5 seconds, can’t be 1 hit, works with a variety of builds but not as the main damage. Just fuels spear, spirit, sever, BCE, etc. builds.

At like 45-60 the minions can nearly clear events with mastery on their own when they’re not even the primary damage. There’s so many corpses you’re at 100% fortify most of the time and the 6 blizzards are stupid funny. So much fun.

Then they start getting insta killed by stacked aoe and they’re just wasted investment, but that’s much later.

Why would he want to continue to play a class that has relatively more problems later?

Come follow my hybrid minion necro around in NM and you won’t see a problem.

I leveled pure minions from 1 to lvl 76. Got tired of taking forever to kill anything. I just swapped to Bone Spear and am melting things.

Have been a pure minion lover since I can remember and gave it my all to stick it out. Minions needs some serious damage buffs and that’s an understatement.

You don’t understand the difference between a class and a build huh? The class is S tier later on, the build is not.

OP complaining about minions at 51 when they work fine. OP saying you can’t get to endgame with them when you can easily.

If you want to push at endgame you’ll probably switch. Welcome to aRPG I guess, late game builds/respecs are common.
