Respec cost will lose players

Yeah people are calling it a bug, but Blizzard won’t respond or admit it, so I’m going forward as it is an intended fix. They nerfed the cooldown reduction on twisted blades to point where it is almost non existent, therefore you lose all mobility and are forced to face tank everything which is not possible.

Nothing at all. If we want to respec rn, if I want to respec now at level 44, it cost me a whopping 45k. That’s absolutely INSANE. I shouldn’t have to throw my gold away if I want to try a different build.

Vendor gear instead of salvaging it. Problem solved instantly.

This is probably one of the cheapest games to respect at, not sure what your talking about. I just respected all my paragorn last night and im level 87 so…

45k is nothing. People have millions upon millions of gold already.

I’m level 83 and I can feel this cause a major main draw for me IS being able to respec and try new things.

If I couldn’t… oof would I enjoy this game at all after the first week? Doubtful…

But being able to respec more freely (OUTSIDE OF DUNGEONS) would be revolutionary in this game to me.

Then, respectfully, they have probably barely been rerolling stats on gear…

Rerolling stats on gear cleared me out pretty fast, and I stopped relatively early. Spiked to 1m per roll after like 5 or something rolls

After trying just a few builds and running into bugs where specific nodes just randomly stop working, the respec cost is sitting at 8M right now. It’s absurd.

they did say in a pre-launch interview that at some point it would be better to just remake a new character of the same class rather than respec so…why haven’t you started on that yet? just make a new character!

Note: It doesn’t increase with amount of respect but with your level, Paragon board is exponential with growth rate ~10%. Hence something over 12 mills for paragon board alone at lv 100

So you want everyone else to be hamstringed because you have no self control? Make internet cost 20 x more, I spend to much time on it… /endsarcasm

There needs to be something done about these re roll costs. Having to pick up every yellow just to sell it is kinda annoying. I just want to pick up the gold. So lower the re roll cost and give even less gold. Also there should be some reasonable cap on re rolling man like make it higher then go lower because like holy smokes nothing worse than getting the cost up to 3mill being so angry and then just selling the item out of rage. I agree it was too cheap in diablo 3 don’t get me wrong i like gold having a value but. I had 80milion gold and i have re rolled 1 stat on 3 items and did not even get the roll i wanted and now im stuck with no gold and i don’t even have the roll i want. You could also balance it to require more forgotten souls or something but like holy smokes this by far feels terrible. Everything already costs too much imprinting, upgrading, extracting, repairing its all crazy expensive. But if nothing gets changed with the reroll cost for the love of god actually increase the renown rewards because they are a absolute joke! 150k for renown 5 are you joking! it takes several hours like probably at least 10 hours and its not even enough gold to re roll 1 time! It needs to be at least 10million gold to even feel remotely like enough gold. Side quests give no gold, whispers give like no gold nope nothing gives gold except selling all these damn hell hammers and ancient oaths i keep finding on my druid! Thanks blizzard. Lower the re roll cost or increase the gold you choose, but this is just terrible having to sell every single item just to re roll a yellow and spend millions of gold and don’t forget it is also other rare resources as well its not just gold feels terrible. Also the rolls are so insanely bad in this game on gear already the least you cold of done is be reasonable with the re roll cost in d4 reaper of souls at least the items don’t literally always roll with 4 stats that are completely useless like in d4 so the yellows have insanely bad rolls and then you get one after 100 hours of grinding just to spend all your gold and not get it and then get so annoyed that the re roll cost is 3million gold per roll that you just give up. Also don’t reply to me with some bs about the gold drop rate is fine and that this re roll stuff is fine. I am a lvl 100 druid and man I am frustrated as all so spare me any nonsense about your 30 hour experiences with the game or the rolls being fine with my class play a druid get to 100 and you will see. Also spare me the well don’t rush all the way to 100 and complain garbage. I love the game and it’s just frustrating to see how much better this game can be with some balancing.

So I’m approaching 80 and here is what I’ve noticed.

  1. 1 mil gold is nothing (someone a few posts back brought this up)
  2. Gold yo-yos quite a bit. I regularly jump up to 10 mil and back down to 500k. Depends on whether I find an item worth rerolling (enchant) or not.
  3. Gold costs for respecs goes up by quite a bit (particularly in the paragon board the more points you have allocated/need to shuffle).

As I said back during betas - ultimately your bottleneck to new specs will be the gear. So I’m not really sure we also need a gold penalty. Especially not when extracts and enchant rerolls are so expensive.

Sadly your best bet is to pick a guide and follow it to the letter. This was always true, but is particularly true now. As a result, the game will get boring really fast.

Also - given how grindy it is - leveling up a “new” version of the same class is a hard pass. Maybe at the start of a season, but at no point would I ever roll a 2nd barb, just to try another spec. I would rather play another class. Or another game.

I hate it. It discourages trying new builds or “playing your way”. I am not going to re-level another druid or barb to try out different builds…leveling is already horrendous.

you mean paragon respec right ?

AGREED! I contemplate changing specs just to see new things, but i find myself having to stick with the build because I don’t have the gold. and by the time I do have the gold, I’ve forgotten.

Stupid. Make respeccing free and give loadouts to save skills and gear. I really do not see wth is the point of the respecc cost. Anyway was running bone spear and wanted to try blood surge. But the blood surge is complete trash and now i have to grind like 8m cash with shait build, just to respec because the earlier respec cost all my money. Why the game punishes for trying out new builds?

It’s because a vocal minority of D2 fanboys complained loudly that D3’s free respecs somehow undermined some sort of feeling of ownership and kinship with an inch tall character you might find out 30 hours in is complete trash and just delete and start over anyway.

They have made gold too hard to get in this version. The occultist still will charge too much (even with changes). You have to sell items in discord to get set but that risks trading with cheaters and getting banned. D3 had gold too easy to get but they can find happy medium here. Some changes to get gold in line:

  1. Greed shrine buffed 500%.

  2. Legendary and unique items sell for 100% more.

  3. Chance for goblins to open portal into vaults when defeated again. This area is full of gold and gives reason to hunt goblins.

  4. Character Inventory increased 25-50% so you can just carry more items. Its too small anyways.

  5. First enchant on occultist is free. Gems are used to influence rolls in your favor. IE Ruby could give better chance to roll Life affix.

  6. Repair costs cut 50%.
