I hope they add an item to reset tempering.
That would defeat the point of having a tempering count on an item… That’s not going to happen.

What they should do is add the ability to revert back to the previously rolled affix. That to me is probably the right balance at this point.
Tempering limit is fine but you should have the option of keeping your current affix, just like enchanting. I should be able to make use of the max tempering attempts but not get screwed out of my ideal affix in pursuit of a better one.
Yeah this would be better kinda like D3 enchants gives the choice to keep or reroll on. A caps fine but an option to keep current would be handy

Well, I agree to a point. You should be able to use one of your tempering shots to remove a tempering. Let’s say I have a really nice piece and I tempered fire resist on it, but now I don’t need any resists on it at all. I should be able to remove that temper with one of the tries and put a different type of temper on it. Wait, is temper the right word? LOL
imagine bricking a III rare with the right stats
and from what i saw those arent exactly common

Agreed, that is a good balance.
Tempering limit should definitely stay.
Without tempering that item could get bricked anyway with rng on the last affix when it drops from the monster. At least with tempering you get multiple attempts.

I think it could work if they balanced it against it’s rarity.
Make it so rare it would be a waste to use on something not BiS, or save it for end of season mucking around.
But I don’t wanna wait 3 seasons for them to figure out the right rarity >.>
They want this changed because they have no control not to risk that next roll. Get the affix you want and then go for max rolls on the next similar piece you get. People getting close to perfect items in a few days. Seasons will be months. Plenty of opportunities to get lucky.
Ok, I guess my bigger problem (at least to me) is that can’t Masterwork unless Tempered
Why ?
Sure the risk may get higher for a bad Tempering eventually but until I’m gathering the resources in order to make a Tempering why can’t I spend less resources for the upgrades ?
bc you really want a chance to “crit” the tempered affixes when masterworking
I don’t wanna farm 5 years to get a perfect roll on all my crap, putting a limit on Tempering or breaking item is the dumpest thing. just make the monster harder or make a item that can reset it .
I agree. Its frustrating that there is a cap. I dont even care for how well I rolled the stat, i just want the ability to get the one I want and I cant even do that. I want to play a video game and not feel like im in a casino.

I am going to go out on a limb and say a change is coming by S5. I think enough items are getting that they will add a way to save them. It will be hella expensive but it will come and rightfully so. If they added resplendent sparks can reset that would make sense as its in the game already and has no use if you dont want to craft an uber.
