Request: For Better Customer Service and Forum Moderation

This is a formal request to have a more mature, better customer service focused forum moderation. Let me explain:

I was banned for saying the “B” word… and not using it against anyone or in any harmful way, shape or form.

This is an adult game Blizzard. You just made me watch a religious figure (priest) get hacked to death with some meat cleavers…and also the first Cinematic shows the main villain entering this world from from a blood cloak made from 3 dead dudes squished against pillars.

Here’s the context:

A person was complaining about Blizzard using their paying customers as actual Beta testers.

And I said “yes I have been “complaining” about that for years”. And instead of saying complaining, I said the B word… B____ing.

Can we run this forum like an actual mature company. Was I banned because you were criticized in this forum post? I wonder if the other player got a ban too. How dumb.

Just reminds me of how bad Blizzard forums are and why half the population does not use them and will instead use Reddit or Discord. Like I did anything wrong. Get out of here Blizzard. I can’t use the B word in normal context, but you can have a priest get hacked to death with meat cleavers, naked people on spikes, skinned alive people hanging from chains in which we have to remove a dagger from their stomach and so much more.

These forums are not only filled with toxicity from players as they passively attack or plain up troll threads, but are also a victim of poor customer service and mismanagement. Second rate service and basic targeting and discrimination from forum mods.

But hey you come on here, it’s like going to North Korea. I get it…I do not have any rights here.

That’s why most people just go else where and take their money else where. And from all the non stop sales you have been running on all your games, I think you know that too Blizzard.

PS: Good job on the actual game and taking feedback to make some improvements. It’s a step in the right direction. I have been very critical of you Blizzard, because I care. Then you banned me for a normal conversation and not my criticizing…check my post history…weird huh. Looking forward to D4. Good job and stay positive. Art team did fantastic. Wanted to say that before North Korea bans me again.

Being very melodramatic

Wow, a company doesn’t like swearing in their official forums. I’m shocked.

This is an 18+ years or older game, with use to be nudity, death and gore.

This is not out of context. This is a mature game, only mature people should be on these forums…if you want to be technical…

Good try Karen.

Yeah, that’s definitely going to make people agree with you.

It’s still common sense to ban swearing in an official forum.

If the word doesn’t get censored then it should be okay. If they don’t want a word in their forums they should add an opt-in censor, then let people add their own words to filter.

In my country swearing is part of normal conversation, nobody here blinks twice at the slang.

You I agree with and you are an adult and sounds like you know how to behave and act like one.

Thank you.

I’m on a mature game, just having a friendly conversation with other players.

Be careful they might be watching.

Don’t post about locked or deleted threads.

There’s always a reason behind our moderators’ decisions. It’s up to you to read our forum Code of Conduct and these guidelines to determine what you did wrong, learn from your mistake, and attempt to post again without breaking any rules.

that’s where you lost me. :point_up_2:

I’m an adult and can have friendly conversations with other players. I do not need to read North Koreas law’s and rules.

I’m sure I will get kicked out at some point. No shocker.

PS: I will be careful. And it was not a locked or deleted thread, just my general experience. Or am I not allowed to share that either in North Korea…I mean Blizzard forums?

Comments like this is what might trigger them, but you be you.

I would hope they are more thick skinned than that. Surely worst has been said all over the internet and on here.

What would a communist country do, they would silence me? That’s where the comparison comes in.

If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck…

What did you expect from a leftist company that comes out of far left California? You need to be extremely careful about what you say. Instead of asking for better moderation which wont happen, they should just implement trigger warnings when you’re typing your forum message like the spell check. Word gets red huge red Trigger Warning pops on your screen.

I don’t usually swear, it’s more about how I was brought up. I was usually B____h slapped across the face (See what I did there?) by my mom or dad if I did. But you’re right about the game being rated M adults etc. The forum policy for swearing should be more loose when it comes to swearing when not used to insult or attack an individual.

I got a 24 ban for using ** in place of letters in a common phrase. Not insukting or attacking or derogatory at all. But i see people using % @ # ! And other characters in their forms of the same words all the time.

It’s not that the moderators didn’t like it, it’s that some child decided to report your post and because of the word they took action.

I could probably get half the forum a 24 day ban if i reported all the comments with those words in, if it didn’t have a “you’ve done this too many times” thing on it.

Whoever manages the forums is a joke and Blizzard should really think about moving it in house and actually having a CS rep on it, instead of using twitter for their comms.

However, it’s best to just avoid using any language that could be perceived as threatening or vulga etc…

Although the game itself is mature, I’m pretty sure these forums are public and available to anyone regardless of whether they verify their age or not. The game might be mature only but these forums are not.

Wait they ban you for cursing on the forums? Every time I have typed out a curse the post doesn’t go through and it tells me to remove the word in question.

I got a forum ban once (3 days or a week,I can’t remember) when Vanilla WoW was coming out because everyone was complaining about the version of Alterac Valley that was coming with Vanilla because it was a later patch and not the original. I was like “Oh the patched one is actually my favorite version of AV and the one I played the most so I’m bummed other people don’t like it.” Wasn’t nasty to anyone. Just explained the game mechanics that I liked in that version and why I thought it was the best iteration. Banned for trolling. Made me actually decide not to play vanilla so it was probably for the best.

This is why my posts generally sound robotic and perhaps pompous. I use direct and specific language as much as possible to avoid any intentional misconstruing of what I say. Blizzard is all too happy to utilize their flag system to squelch wrongthink, and selectively enforce their open ended ToS. This isn’t a good place for open dialogue or even diverse thought. But the developers do check it for feedback, so it’s important still to leave that as much as possible, while navigating the 1984 model that’s run here.

The only thing I’d recommend is to not treat it like a place to relax and have fun like you would with your friends. You can only do that if you reflect what Blizzard wants reflected. If you do that, you can even flagrantly violate the ToS with no consequence.

They’ll ban you for all kinds of stuff. I had a character in wow whos name was Fuhrer(insert a presidents last name here) and even though fuhrer literally translates to leader in german they were like nooooooope. Downloaded lawyer from the matrix and debated my way out of the ban.

OP is accurate.

But that’s none of our business. :hand_with_index_finger_and_thumb_crossed:
