Request - earnable cosmetics

I managed to finish collecting the 4 purified materials today and got the mount trophy (which I will never use probably) and realized how I miss farming cosmetics (without swiping the credit card) - it was fun in D3 (well cosmic wings killed me but still), it was fun in Dark Citadel.

Sure mtx is the reason D4 will be the first Diablo with more than 1 expansion but I’m pretty sure not alone with this - and look at the WoW mount collectors…

My first idea would be adding 1 cosmetic armor set for each endgame activities - like 1 for undercity 1 for pits 1 for helltides and so on - with the highest chance upon completion and a small chance anywhere during those activities.

What do you think?

The more new stuff to look for in-game, the better. I found a new mount trophy in my backpack the other day and it took me a second to realize what it was, it had been so long since I’d found one.

They want you spending in shop so this naturally means getting less cosmetics earnable in the game.

This would totally hook me. I’m one of the wow mount, toys, pets, armor collectors.
It really would be something very cool that I would do.
And I don’t think it would be too difficult for them to do this.
People enjoy ways to differentiate themselves in games.
And yeah… the Mount trophy for killing the Ubers felt a little underwhelming.
Would have liked a title too.

I like collecting the cosmetics in D4 however 99% of them are so unbelievably basic/bland compared to BP/store stuff, very few players will ever equip them. I do think the mount trophies for the gauntlet top 100 (Conqueror’s Crest, Blazon of Victory, Abyssal Bastion) are good and I still often use those today.

But yeah I did spend much of S3 and S4 hunting down the various mounts, bardings, and mount trophies. Certainly gave a nice little side activity and chase I thought, even if the majority of the cosmetics were boring. I pretty much have everything now, excluding 2 DC transmogs (druid staff and totem), and Belial’s head mount trophy. I’m hoping the expansion gives us a bunch more stuff to collect.

I actually like many of the ingame earnable (usually the ones you just naturally get while salvaging basic blue and yellow stuff while leveling).

My paladin has the boneweave set on with the tower shield (from diablo 2) and it’s amazing.

I wouldn’t mind that, but I BET the cosmetics would look ugly AF……

Give us either mini quests to earn small cosmetics, or longer ones in season to earn extra platinum or a % discount on cosmetics pricing. There have been 2 armor sets that I wanted to buy but come on - $25 for a set that you only really see on a load screen? Make it so that if we do something in game we can get it for maybe $10-15. Limited amounts, or a monthly thing.

This is where we’re at folks: Having to request to earn cosmetics in game.

Well yes on one hand it’s sad, on the other hand, Diablo 2 never had these and still did fine, we are simply accustomed to the cosmetics in the past 10 years.

they could sell the quest in the shop to find/earn the costmetics in game! (notice “cost”metics) hahah

Azmodan Nipple Rings!

My Necro NEEDS these!

Eh, who knows. They refuse to share financials. The one leak we have puts Year 1 revenue at 85% from license sales & 15% from MTX. MTX revenue was probably mostly from Battle Pass - and BP cosmetics were always interspersed with other benefits (gacha-style), so it can’t be treated as pure MTX.

Second, Microsoft probably insisted on extracting the maximum return from this expensive property (IMO D4’s release date was accelerated in part to push up Blizzard’s valuation for the buy-out)… and expansions + new core systems are the primary drivers of new adoption & engagement. It’s also how Game Pass extracts money from its player base, since base game is (was?) included in the subscription. Expacs are how MS justifies that.

D3, in turn, had its 2nd expansion scrapped because of mismanaged launch - bad auction house + no endgame. Otherwise its sales were strong for years. It just hadn’t met internal expectations.

I think D4 is probably doing well, and that on the strength of its marketing + it being the most accessible modern ARPG on the market.

I know this was expanding on a side point - uhm… i… endorse your request and/or awareness campaign. :white_check_mark: :check_box_with_check:
