Maybe it’s just me, But I would rather grind Hordes for my character progression. Make pits optional side content. Give it a ladder board. When you clear a pit, it adds your name to the ladder tracking time + pit level, and the highest dmg skill you used for that run.
Infernal Hordes is infinitely better than The Pit. It does not have a timer which allows you to more cautiously push and progress. Even though you COULD do a T8, you might farm a T7. With The Pit, you will hit a brick wall of DPS.
IH have more interesting mechanics also, so, there is that.
Problem with pit is it gives almost no loot. All you get is boss loot. It should work more like in D3 where all the loot you would get trough out the pit is dropped at the boss.
