Replace evade with shiftkey 4 more spells

I don’t get why we need an evade key at all. Just make movement speed a little bit faster.
And give us more skills to play with.
Let’s be real, evade is a gimmick, most of the time people are not even using it or what it’s meant for and even when they are, it doesn’t matter because you will get hit by the next big attack because it’s on cool down. It’s legit, just a gimmicky useless waste of space button.
We could be moving faster to dodge moves.
And we could open that button up for a shift key to have another set of abilities to work with… YOU KNOW, LIKE MOST ARPG’s have been doing in the last 15 years on console and pc. How does this game not have a shift key for more abilities, is MIND BOGGLING!

Evade works as a gap closer for melee characters. If you’ve rolled a double charge on your boots then you have some reprieve for certain fights. A couple of boss fights in the game are fought in the volume of an aquarium with a boss that can swipe 2/3 of the room with one attack while it covers most of the remaining 1/3 with snares that will cause a likely death or at least near death when the boss is finished pounding you. That evade needs to be used with precision to hit those tiny safe sections and stay alive.

That evade button is your friend as a Barbarian or Druid. I used it a bit on Necro as more of an “oh ****” button when I tried to pour on too much damage and power through a mechanic. There is one fight in particular where the boss machine guns these blood projectiles at you where you’ve also got 3 adds in the room with plus pillars chaining you right before that mechanic. If you get pulled to one it’s a machine gun of blood to the face and likely death. But a quick burst followed by an evade and some quick kiting bought me the 4 seconds I needed to kill it.

I understand sorc and rogue have better skills built into their kit making evade redundant, but it’s definitely needed on melee classes. Necro can probably power though most fights without it.

I love the game mechanic as is. Totally understand if you don’t like this part of the game though. Same with class skill limits being 6, I love that I have to make choices that not only impact what I do but also dictate what I won’t be able to do. Decisions are more impactful. It feels important. Amazing. And brilliant.

Also, if you are using the EVADE button to close the gaps like you say, then how am I going to use it to avoid damage too? It’s on cool down now!

This was never a problem in other games. The fact that you are insisting that this is a must have feature for Barbs and Druids is nuts.
It’s not a MUST have feature for sorc right? Maybe the devs just need to use their brains and like the SORC who has a teleport just make a skill for the barb that they use like a buff that lets them avoid all damage for a second and buffs their character giving them xxx% of dodge chance for the next 3 seconds.
I mean, really, do people really not know how to basic problem solve anymore?
Also if you had more skills to work with you could have all the tools in the world to stay alive. And if you were just a bit faster, you could easily avoid those annoying vomit that bosses always seem to spew onto the floor next to their feet. Or maybe get rid of some of the other useless buttons, like the EMOTE Button. Which again would be solved if you had a shift key button instead. If you like a good emote, put it on a shift key button,
Why is there a lockon button? I never once used it. WHY IS LOCKON TAKING UP SPACE? You look at where you wanna aim and boom you are murdering the monsters you are aiming at. Not a single time in the beta did I use this lockon button. In fact, I think at one point I removed it for the zoom in and out instead.

Also, if you got rid of the LOCK KEY you could use that to Roll or Dodge or Evade or Dash forward.

Look I’m in the more skills camp with you but have a different idea to implement it. I would drop heal to the dpad to gain a skill and add dual button presses to LB+RB, L3+R3, Y+B and A+X.

5 extra skills does feel a bit much though. So any 2 of those to get us up to 8 skills is acceptable. I’m still good with 9 or maybe 10 but the UI will potentially get a bit cluttered at that point.

Which brings me to another point, console UI is just awful, give us the PC UI and give us a way to scale it.
