Rend stacks now?

You can see the first rend applies 55dmg a tick. later on it ticks for 300. I thought bleed shouldnt stack from same source? the ticks for 300 persist for a long time, almost as if they not only stack but also refresh? Bugged? you can quite clearly see at boss half health that it ticks for 250 until it ends pretty much.

I use rend a lot myself and I will main barb, its the most cost efficient dmg/fury skill but it should come with a drawback. stacking eliminates rend having a downside.

Always has.

20 chars.

The downside is the duration of the bleed. Enemys still hit you for seconds untill they finaly die. Without bleed stacking, licke it always have worked, bleed builds would be terrible.

crazy! not in d3 though. and if you google it, it says it doesnt.

well I thought that was the reason to spec out of them later on  I understand the trade off. having it stack to me is not enough off a trade off. But I take it will make it all much easier. and here I have been not stacking my stuff intentionally

Well I play D4 and the dmg increases if I apply rend/flay multiple times on the same enemy. Either this happens uninentionaly for 3 beta weekends or it’s working as intended no matter how it was handled in completely different games?

I think all effects like this stack. I was using the corpse explosion node that turned it into a plague cloud and the more corpses I stacked and blew up the bigger the DoT was.

well personally I felt that it was better hitting a few times with rend, but I googled it and it said no it doesnt stack so I’m like ok.

I have no problems with it stacking. I just wanna know its intended. well or I think its a bit OP actually. rend has so much dmg as it is. it should have some kind of drawback. and yeah later on 1-2 sec extra killing an elite is a big thing, maybe that is enough as a drawback

Yep, it stacks. Which just means bigger ruptures. Bleed barb was fun to play this weekend, rupturing Ashava for 1k+ damage.

That’s why they nerf Bleed untill release while they might buff Rogue ^^.

that would be reasonable.

I think I rather have it high dmg and no stacking though. makes for all those “next skill deals extra dmg affixes” actually work well for rend. but ok then that can be its drawback, so its fine

I’d like to have more dmg then stacking but I don’t know how Blizz will balance a “Do 6789 dmg over 6 seconds” skill and noone goes craycray about it ^^. That’s why stacks are there I think because if you can’t apply them you do 0 dmg.

fair point.

2020 chars

What made me realize the bleed stacks, was on the regenerating enemies in Kol Dragan. Since they were 10 lvls higher, and were regenerating faster than I could physically damage them (only had 1 legendary at the time). But, i watched the bleed bar get bigger and bigger as their regeneration was slowly losing pace with the buildup. Then bam, rupture for like 3/4 of their hp.

as I read that they didnt, I just dimissed my own experience with the hp bars seemingly getting more bleeds on them.

But ok rend stacks, and its intended I guess? Seems I will have to play even more rend then I planned to =)

and the fact it stacks actually make me consider rupture now. before I thought it was kinda meh (just read it) I have played barb to 83 in closed beta and I never tested it :scream_cat: but if rend stacks its obviously a great skill

Flay to build, rend to spend, rupture to end.

Also to note: Flay adds vulnerable 2s, and Rend can extend vulnerable by 2s. So between the two, you can keep vulnerable up while stacking bleed until you rupture.

When you hit enemies with any Bleed, you can see the Blue Bar build with any subsequent Bleeds. When the Blue Bar equals the monster’s Health Bar, it will die at the end of the Bleed duration (barring it has any way to heal).

There are 2 ways to really build Bleed:

  • Bleed as Primary Damage
  • Bleed as a Utility

If you take Bleed as a Utility, you don’t care about its damage really. You use it to Slow enemies and synergize with other attacks. This is a lot less straightforward and requires a lot of theorycrafting but is otherwise extremely powerful.

sounds good for bosses, I prefer my vulnerable to come in an aoe though.

chain → overpowered hota

is what I will aim to build toward. I expect to get it online sometime around level 70 if I am lucky with my legendary drops.

If Rend stacks why was he not spamming it when his fury was up?
