Remove the Pit from the game

The Pit is killing the game. It is just a single subpar Nightmare Dungeon and it is dictating the direction of game. Blizzard has forced us into it and it became an obsession for many. Sure, there has always been balance problems but Pit is just making the situation even worse. The game cannot be balanced as long as the Pit exists. What is the logic of adjusting the performance of the classes and builds around a 5 min long activity when a have rich open world with many end game activities?

This Pit non-sense lead to the last season SB disaster (it was for me) and to what we have again now with the Bloodwave Necro or the other OP builds. Players quickly cleared Pit 150 and are already bored, asking for higher Torment or Pit Tiers. Builds designed to clear high Pit tiers have no place in the game outside of the Pit. I can’t understand Blizzard’s logic.

My opinion is that the Pit should disappear or just be kept as an optional side activity for those who want to run it, the same way as the Gauntlet. Difficulty should be reversed back to NMDs, which offer a lot more diversity and are consistent in terms of difficulty with all the other activities of the game.

Whatever happens they do need something that gives people the chance to really test their builds…

A single, short activity with a “difficulty” orders or magnitude higher than any other game activity should not be the metric to define builds. For me, this is the problem we have now in the game and the reason I believe the Pit should disappear.

I used quotes for difficulty because the Pit is not even difficult. It is just an activity designed for high DPS meta builds.

Big hordes of scaling monsters on a timer. Yeah not exactly . . . Inspiring.

My issue with it is that it is so damned basic. Oh snizzle my number went up? I have more fun doing headhunts because there are at least a couple objectives besides kill moar faster better. Don’t get me wrong that is kind of repetitive too, but at least there is a short list of things that need done instead of just kill more faster better.

They could do more with the pit to make it more interesting to do but it is in no way killing the game

Big beautiful world… And we get funneled to the pit…

What’s stopping you from running NMD’s? Nothing… Just because you don’t like Pit’s doesn’t mean everyone else agrees with you. An argument can be made that NMD’s offer more rewards than Pit’s once your glyph’s are leveled up. Once your glyph’s are leveled up it is, as you said, an optional event.

You’re mad just because Pit’s are popular with the stronger builds. You made the choice to play a weaker build but you don’t want to accept the consequences of your choice. It’s really very, very simple: If you don’t like Pit’s than do something else…

The Pit is a benchmark for builds & so it has a reason to exist. I don’t like how glyph leveling is tied to it but it is what it is.

I’m not funneled into the pit. I do enough to get my glyphs to 46+ and then i go back to whatever else i need to do for my goals. After i do a bunch more optimization, i may go back to the pit and bang out some more glyph levels… or i may just call it done and play another character/game.

You need to get over this victim mentality that you’re forced to do something because other people enjoy it. If you run out of fun, then your character is done and it’s time to move on.

Pit is terribly designed. It doesn’t change anything from 80 to 150, just more life to the monsters. That’s not a challenge. It should be a cruel place, with 2 Butchers, an invasion of elites, several versions of the maidens, monsters falling from the sky, pools of poison, meteors. That would be challenging and fun.

Remove the Pit from the game

No.

You’re welcome. If you play the game, anything you said is non-sense.

Pit’s a benchmark for all builds.

Then re-rolling for masterwork triple crits would be all that’s left of endgame.

Oh I would very much love to see that, but D3 fanboys love GR in their D3.5 game.
They want this game to be a clone of D3 not something new.
They want their powerfantasy with screen wiping abilities, anything that even slightly resemble a challenge is complained about in an instant.

I am just giving my opinion. That’s what the forum is for. No one needs to agree with me. Obviously, many don’t. I am not mad because I don’t run the Pit. I do it just enough to level my Glyphs to a point that I consider acceptable then I do something else. If I wanted to push further, it is easy. I go to Maxroll or any similar site and copy a S-tier build.

I think the Pit is hurting the game because it is completely decorrelated from any other game activity and the builds are designed around it. It just makes the game even more unbalanced.

The Pit is a endgame activity created to push the limit of your build.

Putting away the Pit make the Dark Citadel the last endgame activity of Diablo 4, and the DC is not really beloved by a part of the playerbase.

The Pit must stay, Gauntlet was throwed into the abyss already when he was the only official leaderboard of the game and one of the endgame activity. So the answer is no.

Remove yourself from the game. Thanks in advance.

The Pit being the only endgame activity for the builds we currently have in the game is exactly the problem. What I would suggest is to remove the Pit and reduce the performance of the builds so that it matches the difficulty of the game in Torment 4.

Unfortunately, what I am seeing in a very near future is just more Torment tiers because builds doing Pit 100 are too powerful for any game activity.

Making the Pit into something similar to the Gauntlet with a leaderboard as some are asking for could be an option but the performance of the builds should be tuned for T4 not Pit 100 or more.

Did it to force people to do NMDs. Unfortunately most people just do hordes or tributes lol.

And to OP no one is stopping you from doing other things. If you don’t want to pit don’t do it. The issue is the glyphs leveling being moved there but they didn’t want their precious NMDs to be totally ignored like always after week 1 of a season

You sound like a guy who doesn’t want to run pit, just a wild guess. Then don’t?

If you remove the only scaling content we end up with d2 endgame plus the loot pinata, how original.
