It’s the most toxic affix for Sorc and any other build using ranged attacks. It’s especially frustrating when playing chain lightning as the spell will hit something outside the bubble and then basically fizzle out.
At least in Diablo 3 it only slowed projectiles within the field rather than outright negating them.
There’s nothing “challenging” about having to deal with 6+ elites and maybe a champion or 2 with the damage resist aura and a bunch of trash mobs and basically being unable to kill them because you’re forced to dive into melee range as a ranged squishy while simultaneously having your damage output utterly gutted in some cases.
Nevermind that it can appear as an affix on NMDs. It does absolutely nothing for classes and builds that don’t used range while utterly hosing ones that do.
Let’s act mature (yeah I know we’re on diablo 4 forums). Suppressor affixe is currently “suppressing” some ranged build. Vampiric, Fire enchanted and poison all don’t counter your build. And don’t ask you to “play another build”.
While still manageable, it cause some issues as it doesn’t only “reduce” the damage dealt but totally negate it in some situations.
So even if not deleting the whole trait, it could be tuned to not “negate” entire builds (but only reduce their effectiveness, like any other trait).
I play ranged rapid fire rogue. I have no problems with suppressor affix. And have finished nmd tier 100.
Just needs a different approach than most enemies.
If you want to play a game with just button mashing . Diablo 4 is not there yet but halfway there
Two first mates with the ship mask, a skinny guy with fire amd two other elites with suppressor bubbles. This weekend i rage quit, which is super rare for me to do.
As I said, in D3 Suppressor functioned more or less the same, except that it only slowed projectiles to a crawl rather than outright blocking them. It wasn’t optimal but you could still choose to fight from a safe distance.
D4 doesn’t give you that option. Being forced into melee range when you really don’t want to be, especially on high NMD tiers can very easily be suicide and that’s not even taking into account what dungeon modifiers you may have.
It’s also worth noting that should suppressor actually be one of them (and I dunno why any sane Sorc would even attempt that) if The Butcher should spawn, he’ll get it as well. Or hell even if he just shows up period and you have a bunch of suppressor enemies nearby it’s going to scuff your damage at the worst possible time.
It’s just not a very well thought out enemy affix. There is a very fine line between having a build hindered , and being outright negated.
Plus they’ve already removed problematic affixes with Cold and Resource Burn so it’s not unprecedented.
I swear. Some players really just want to change and mold the game entirely to their liking and make it easier, rather than do something about it like adjusting build, countering enemy abilities, or farming for better gear and making your character stronger overall.
For a game that has the title “diablo” which sounds intimidating for some
I find it hilarious that some people are expecting to play this game with “teletubbies” in mind
It’s toxic for every class, but I find “death explosions” to be both more ridiculous and more unnecessary than suppressors. I hated them in D3 and I hate them in D4.
I have zero issues with any of my characters and suppressor. Shade is a pita, as well as LC, so i avoid them. Not because i can’t do them or they are too tough but because they just are a pain to deal with.
This is probably why blizzard put all the options in dungeons…SO THAT WE CAN CHOOSE.
If you guys dont like a dungeon aspect then don’t do it…move onto the next. I am not speaking of world elites, just dungeons. World elites are a joke and no one should be complaining about that difficulty.
But maybe everyone is right…they should just change the game completely. Make it super easy with awesome drops and little to no challenge. I bet that will make the game great. And ya….people will stop complaining.
New to the series? Rest of the games have been easy mate, hell some affixes on mobs are worse than the old immune to affix’s in d2. So yes they do need balanced, sorted out, or taken out.
