Remove or adjust mechanics that insta-kill you without any warning please!

How is the game supposed to be fun if you have no chance when you don’t know the mechanics?

I just died against Avarice the Gold Cursed, the World Boss, he hit me once, which killed me and triggered my Flame Shield Enchant, saving me.

Then I ran all the way to the edge of the screen, he swings his hammer, it’s like 3m away from me, still hits me for half my health and I die.
There’s no visual warning, there’s no way to know this on your first attempt doing this boss if you haven’t watched any guides on how to kill him.

Please fix this!
This is not ok for a game like this!

Either add a visual indicator that gives you a chance to dodge the attack that shows the range accurately or do not make the attacks one hit kills.

The current state of this game on HC is NOT OK!

Let’s compile a list of mechanics that need fixing, I’ll try to update the first post but not sure how long I have edit rights.

  • Butcher - Way too strong on lower levels and impossible(?) if you don’t have the right skills yet.
  • Ashava - One shot kill without any warning and impossible to defend against unless you have something that makes you Immune, otherwise the poison will just rip through all defensive skills and potions and still kill you - attack hitbox is way bigger than the visual and absolutely no warning or ability to doge
  • Avarice - One shot kill without warning - attack hitbox is way bigger than the visual and absolutely no warning or ability to doge
  • Scroll of Escape does not work before level 20, so basically if you run into something bad before then you’re just dead, nothing u can do.

Probably the same for the other world bosses?
Anything else?
I did complete the entire campaign without too much difficulty.

While I do get your frustration, this is not something you couldn’t have anticipated…

I’m also playing HC “blind” as I havn’t done a SC character, but if I die to a minion because I don’t know what it does, that’s on me…
I could’ve chosen to learn everything about the game with the safety net of SC, but I opted not to

So you’re saying grinding to level 70 and then dying to a never before seen mechanic is good game design / fun gameplay?
Then you have to get all the way back to 70 and get one shot by the 2nd boss mechanic you’ve never seen before?
There’s what, 4? different world bosses?

I’m not frustrated, I enjoy the challenge.
But not having a chance is not challenging, it’s just dumb and boring.
If something is going to kill me in one hit, there should be a warning or a way to evade/counter it without requiring prior knowledge on the mechanic.

In that case everything dangerous needs to be telegraphed in advance in a way that players can inherently figure it out without prior knowledge.

The cost would be immersion.
I’m saying that will be the way if you insist on playing purely HC without playing through SC first, yes.
I’m doing the same thing btw, so It’s not because I don’t commend your decision to do so

Whinners don’t belong in HC.
You’re a softy and we know it.

Bro have you never played hardcore? It’s not the base game man grow up. Alot.of us are playing hardcore on our first play through and died to unknown mechanics. That’s what happens in hardcore. You want to learn the mechanics than go play softcore quit crying on something you chose to do.

HC is not a challenge. It is a mindset. The most fun part of HC is dying. Maybe dying to dc/crashes would call my empathy but dying to mechanic is exactly what you signed up for. If this doesn’t sit well with you, you should not be playing HC.
