Removing it midseason is like saying hey necros you’re a melee class now if you play an endgame build.
This is still something you would do AT THE END OF THE SEASON.
Close Talents
Sturdy (melee dmg reduction from close) is still a rogue talent.
Siphoning Strikes (crital strikes against close heal you) is still a rogue talent.
Deaths Embrace (damage and damage reduction to close) is still a necro talent
Going through all of the class trees, i can see there are no more distant talents anymore. So are we to assume that distant/close affixes are going away and all of the above talents can be purged of their distance requirements?
Like whats the point of buffing blight by 33% when you nerf Deaths Reach a talent that can give 12x (24x with it on the amulet). How many people are going to play blight now with these nerfs?
It’s already been confirmed by macrobio that gloom is glitched and isnt giving the full 18x modifier. Terror is only getting its additional 9x modifier when you have the enemy stunned or frozen. Deaths Reach was something that was ALWAYS active and all you had to do was move away from the mob while you hit it with ranged abilities. Like how is that niche? Why did i spend 1000 dollars on an ultrawide if necro is a melee only class?
Is the goal to build a game where you can create your own diverse playstyle or to give one of the weakest classes in the game 12% movespeed so their melee variant can still perform 70% as good as a sorceress/barbarian?
Well Druid still has Nature’s Reach.
Deal 3% dps to Distant Targets. Double if vs stunned, immobile etc.
Also one of their big multipliers on Paragon is Thunderstruck. Storm Skills Deal increased dmg = to 20% of Close and Distant Bonus.
If they remove Distant altogether, which I doubt, they’d have some work cut out for them.
Wouldnt spec into it. It’s probably a niche talent and subject to midseason nerfs
Well first - Let me say I don’t think Necro was handled properly.
Based on feedback and just knowing classes in general, it could’ve been handled better.
Second - If you’re building a Storm Druid, you’re spec’n Nature’s Reach and Thunderstruck for the multiplier.
Idk why you said this when I was just pointing out that - Yes, There’s still a class with Distant on them.
Ok then :).

This change is probably foreshadowing reduction of damage affixes on gear in the coming itemization update.
imo then revert it and do a total revamp starting with the new season.
always make large negative changes at the start of a season. when nobody cares because we are starting new characters with the new talents, skills, items and rules laid out.
because then its like hey we’re nerfing xyz but we’re putting this new awesome thing into the game that you can attempt to make busted.
have 2 bonuses in the deaths reach/deaths approach talent until then.
it’s not like its going to catapult necros to the top of the meta or break the game.
I’ve been playing blight without it the whole time and seeing some blights hit for 900K+. Honestly I don’t play the Necro at range. I might fire the initial shot from range but I’m always pushing forward. If I have to stop to finish a pack I do so at mid range anyway.
My Amulet has + ranks to corpse skills and + ranks to fueled by death. If you want to get 12% back on your ammy get + ranks to amplify damage. Every decent necro build runs decrepify anyway.
Iron Maiden with the Torturous aspect turns our curse into a Darkness ability and will basically allow you to permastun large packs of mobs for terror. Iron maiden can also be spec’d into costing no resources. I prefer Iron Maiden.
