Regrets-Should Have Stayed With Diablo Immortal and Saved $$$

I played Diablo Immortal since launch, and then took a couple months off because the end game was so much of a drag, since I could never become an Immortal on my server since I am a “low spender” and all my friends left and at the time, everything worth doing required a 5-man group, or Warband to do. I saw hope in Diablo IV.

I was excited for Diablo IV, I bought it for myself and my kids and one of my old gaming friends bought it. My other friends played in the beta, but did not think it was worth $70+ and did not play. The graphics are great, the world is great, the story was great and combat was a little slow, but after the story it was a grind (as expected), but not a rewarding grind, just a long grind with few rewards and long grind ahead to fight one last boss and be done. The Season was OK, but if you skip the story the levelling is slow and the grind does not seem worth my time.

They could make the grind less of a drag by simply having it so you can grind anywhere, anytime and earn points for the tree turn-ins and then make the rewards from the turn-ins actually worth the time (at least a 60% chance of getting a legendary and a 50% chance of it being an upgrade). Also, make it so if you click on a quest in your log it automatically transports you to the closest waypoint. Giving an XP boost for seasonal characters would be good too.

Diablo Immortal, after many patches, has fixed most of the things I did not like about the game (I do not care much about PVP, so buying crests to upgrade my gems is not a big concern for me), and I can do anything I want in the game solo, except for a few things that you can only do with a Warband (I still need to find the right Warband).

So, I am going to go back to mostly playing Immortal and hope that DIV does the same and gets to be the game I want to keep playing after a few patches.

Diablo Immortal makes all their money, so you can bet it’ll be getting the most experienced staff and most attention. This game on the other hand… yeah

netease makes the game, not blizzard.

Blizzard designs the DI content, NetEase implements the code, just like,
Blizzard designs the D2R season content, and Vicarious Vision implements it.
(Although… Vicarious vision also co-developed D4…)

https ://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vicarious_Visions

vicarious is part of blizzard, netease isn’t.

Was part of Activision, before joining Blizzard. And Blizzard doesn’t have the capacity to build mobile ARPG. Asia is the leading developer of mobile ARPG and NetEase was a decade and more partners with Blizzard publishing their game to Chinese audience.

What does that have to do with being part of Blizzard or not?

because if you research instead of wasting your time picking arguments on a forum, you’ll know netease had an exact copy of DI under a different name, and that game did not do well so all they did when blizzard came with the money was change the theme of the game, upgrade a few textures and re-release it.

aka - blizzard did not make the game nor direct it, they only hold the IP which is pointless because demons aren’t owned by blizzard, if netease wanted to, they could re-re-release diablo immortal into their own version again.

the only reason people clicked download, is because when it comes to brands, americans and europeans are all over it

brands in china don’t matter as much because “thoughts” are for everyone, a company has a very hard time to “copyright a thought” in china, which is why there is endless games all looking the same and sometimes 100% copied with same art

you’d know all this if you didn’t waste your time arguing with me

Yeah NetEase had an exact copy because they build ARPG engine platforms. Just like Torchlight: Infinite being coded by a Chinese company. So, Blizzard decided to contract Netease to reskin Diablo on their propiety engine. Nonetheless, the design and future decisions of DI come from Blizzard.

I already know this because NetEase does a pretty damn sloppy job with refining the game because I’ve played DI long enough to the research myself. Countless hours bashing NetEase and Blizzard in the reddit forum

But your argument saying that “Netease makes the game, not Blizzard” is entirely false.

All the graphics assets, videos, voice overs and story are from Blizz. I do have a problem with outsourcing (as a tech worker replaced by outsourcing myself), but the game devs seem to be doing a great job in Immortal, it runs great on my PC and my Phone.

NetEase had an almost exact clone of Diablo out on mobile, but instead of trying to sue them into oblivion (which is nearly impossible to do to to a Chinese company), they made a deal with NetEase and gave them all the Diablo Assets and wrote the story so they could make the game and share the profits. Actually this was a great solution to the problem.
