I have to begin by unequivocally condemning cheating of any kind, even in an arena as relatively harmless as an online video game. That said, I hope it isn’t lost on Blizzard that the reason people resort to these measures is because farming things in this game goes beyond the usual minor chore that we’ve come to expect from the genre and feels like being sentenced to forced labor (albeit voluntarily). No one would be doing this if (1) the game was fun to play and; (2) certain aspects of the game didn’t feel like overbearing chores. And of course, you know, if the coders and engineers behind D4 were on top of their game.
P.S. A little exclaimer just for the record: my opinion is decidedly colored by my experience currently farming Distilled Fear for the Beast in Ice. Whoever decided that each attempt should take 9 of these mats… if this was the 1800s I would have challenged you to a duel!
There have been arguably more enjoyable games out there that have had dupe exploits for various things. If people find a way they will abuse it until they can’t anymore. You don’t leave your car unlocked on the street for the same reason. It sucks, but it is what it is.
Again just not true, if it took people 5 seconds to get the materials to farm bosses and the dupe exploit was still around you’d still see people duping and buying materials. Now the chore aspect might make it more enticing to buy these materials, but there will always be a market for laziness, always.
that is far from the truth. in every online game people will try to get an unfair advantage over other sadly. Name one online game where no rmt exists.
i disagree. a large portion of people that cheat, do it because they can.
like, a huge portion of people. i would say most people do it just because they can. it doesnt matter how fun or unfun the game is, its quite fun being able to exploit the game.
also, im not saying the game is fun or anything, im very anti blizzard and d4 at the moment, im just saying, that in my experience running with the duping/botting crowd, its a lot less about farming stuff thats a chore and a lot more about doing it because they can.
BZ can delete materials, anyone have 50 tickets and more ( becaus a day i can farm 10-20 tickets ). But they dont do it, they want find address exploit. And now dup still dup , they rmt and drop materials ( Trading Unavailable is useless ) _ _" !~
And they added a new item to the dupedlist there are ppls offering infinite duriels and malphas runs if you carry them. And i should farm helltides and whispers ? The leaderboad content they wants to add is ruined already
I’m sorry, they need to ban people who cheat by proxy, and this includes well known streamers.
I ran through 23 Heralds, and enough Vaults to level from 90-100 today (roughly 1 vault per bar, 4 bars per level, so roughly 40 vaults, give or take), and I have 2 of the cores. I’m not saying you can’t have more, but if you’re running more than 5 via one player, yeah, you’re knowingly using duped goods. It’s one thing to run a couple Duriel/Malphas runs to help other players, it’s another to run hours upon hours worth at this point in time. After all, something like knowingly buying stolen goods is a crime in real life. Cheating by proxy should also be treated as cheating.
My only hope is that Blizzard is using this time where trading is disabled and an unfair drop rate of the cores to catch players who are running more than realistically possible with a massive ban wave in the future.
But it won’t happen. A few gold miners will be banned, and the players who benefitted from all of this won’t be touched.
I agree. The integrity of this game has been compromised since the beginning and continues to be a major problem. People are clearly not being punished as there are already precious few who play to begin with and none of those weaknesses in the code that have been repeatedly exploited are being fixed either. If they aren’t willing to enforce fairplay or fix their game then the least they can do is use third party anti cheating software like many other games do these days. It’s not perfect but at least it’s something.
