Is this just basically useless? Is it just for nightmare affixes or what else triggers it, incinerate?
Does not work with Incinerate. Maybe Omnipower MH, maybe
might work with Barb WW. Seems pretty niche.
Should work with stuff like “melted heart of selig” uniq amu, which gives you mana drain as health protection.
Or the barb sword, Magnum Opus, which gives you fury drain for more dmg.
But truth is, the amu counts as super uniq, and I do not belief, that it is possible to drop it in a session.
The only reason i can think of for this thing existing is to combine with Omnipower, and thats only if it even works with Omnipower which I’m not entirely optimistic for.
Affixes are not an acceptable reason. A heart whose only purpose is to alleviate a single NM dungeon affix would be the 2nd dumbest idea of the season.
I came across an elite affix at level 4 in the starting quest dungeon that was draining my energy. “Devious” was the name. Posted about it here as I didn’t understand what was causing the drain: Help: Rogue losing energy when hit?
Slotting 2 of those hearts did actually allow me to fight those elites at this level.
So I think “drain” in this context refers to mobs draining your resource on hit, not to do with your own abilities draining your resource.
If thats what its all about, then that is horrible game design.
- introduce a new prevalent negative effect
- make you farm something to negate it.

It’s the new Malignant elites. It might only be the Devious ones, but it was happening to me so much that I assumed that all of them do it.
Basically if you’re doing Malignant Tunnels, expect every elite you encounter to do this to you. If you don’t have better devious hearts, might as well use this one until you can get something cooler in WT3. The mechanics make you replace them often since they can’t be unsocketed, so if you want to have hearts consistently as you upgrade gear you’ll need to farm tunnels regularly (which is also annoying, and probably intentional).
I prefer the barrier, static, and tal rasha on ice shards WT2 but haven’t really tried anything else. I threw one of these in a ring to carry around for if I need it though
Currently my wrath should cost .5 essence/sec while I should gain 3+18% every sec. But I just lose all my essence. It literally says “resource draining effect” and “drains essence”. I’m using 0 minions to clarify. Yea, fun realization after having used up a bunch of aspects and resources to completely swap around just to make a combo work because of the limitation on heart types.
