Minions at the start of the game are on the weaker side. Nothing a little cautionary pulls can’t fix. Don’t charge into large mobs.
After finding out about the Book of the Dead (cause I forgot about it) and taking Reapers, I’m running through mobs easy enough. Bosses are still a bit tough depending on who you fight.
4 reapers and 3 frost mages, my Decompose and Bone Spear is just blasting through enemies. Bunch of passives for the skeletons and myself, I have no other skills on my bar.
I stopped at 17.
The minions are fine. Veteran open world I am just pressing “1” for the buff and occasional resummon if something dies.
In dungeons, I have excess corpses. Minions will die against bosses but… decompose has left enough corpses around to resummon. As long as I summon as I need them and not just use up the corpses as fast as humanly possible, it’s fairly easy. I use Blight for the Minion DPS buff. Decrepify for the damage reduction…
There are literally 1000s of people that disagree with you, and you say cautionary pulls like this is poe and you can move all your minions on top of you with a spell cast. The minions die in 1 hit period lvl 1 or lvl 20 or lvl 100 (per alpha NDA testing taking into account the recent nerfs).
I got to 20 with shield skeletons and mages. It’s not some super op omg wtfbbq build but it got the job done.
Man people are now lying. I am not sure if this is gaming addiction that people make live in a world that is not truth, or lying to themselves.
These skeletons are not fine, and if they are having trouble on vet picture when things get even harder.
Having to resummon them every boss aoe, or because they stand in bad. Nothing is more annoying. You got other things the class requires you to do.

A lot of players is very unskilled, im inclined to be rather sceptic about the wild and grandiose claims from the general playerbase whom appears to have little to no experience with arpgs.
For example everyone was harping about druids being weak, yet insiders kept saying earth druids was really good later on.

Having to resummon skeletons every aoe is not fun gameplay. It is that simple. The gameplay of using a pet becomes tedious and not fulfilling when you can just blow things up with other classes without said element.

Fact: Skeleton is a disposable minion.
You should EXPECT them to die as it takes almost nothing to create. If you have an issue with a lack of corpses, take something that creates corpses. Take many things that create corpses. It’s that simple.
Takes, what? 2 seconds to understand you should leave corpses to recreate skeletons after an AoE?

It takes a resource that requires to give up something else for.
No necromancer wants to have to keep summoning skeletons more than playing the class in other ways.
Anyone who says other wise does not play minion builds, or has issues in the head.
It is tedious not fun gameplay, that anyone with half a brain would understand.

Fact: You think its fun playing “hunt the corpse on the ground”, under all the animations, skills, monsters, and what minions you still have up.
I’m at lvl 20, full skills on minions + the legendary that lets me summon 2 additional skels and no, they are not fine, they struggle on Veteran against mobs and they are useless against bosses, even when using 6 shielded ones.
If you are doing skels for the general mobs, you have to reskill your Necro for every boss fight or else prepare yourself for a tedious, boring and long fight.
They struggle on Veteran (skills and paragon won’t solve it) they won’t be viable on Nightmare and ofc forget completely about them on Torment.
PD: And I haven’t tried pet Druid on the Slam but I bet it’s still the same as the beta, a complete waste of skill points.
Since many people are new to arpg. Let me teach you about minions.
Minions can either be used as Bombs, or tanky.
Having them being squishy defeats the reason for minions in ARPG. It becomes busy work, Dying easily is not only drains your resources, it also limits your play style and what you can do with them.
At this rate. Anyone who uses minions would get kicked out of my party. Because they are that pointless. Tanking for a few seconds, just to get one shot. You are spending more time summoning them, than using that resource in other ways.
Yeahhhh… not gona be playing necro now.
Its pretty bad.
Managed to farm out the +2 skele mages +2 skele warriors, and the dps they put out before dieing isnt comparable to Rogue / Sorc in the server slam.
Its in a bad spot for sure.
The skill passives maxed helps “a little” but they still drop like flies to any boss.
Ya, like all these people saying skeletons are suppose to be easily killed is the dumbest thing I have ever read.
That means that they are damage dealers correct? So that means the damage output they do would need to be equal to the resource and time it takes to summon them compare to other class who can just hit a button and get what they want.
So by all means, someone explain what good skeletons are for, in this current state? I need a good laugh.
Learn to stop arguing with NEATS on the internet. They are looking for some deeper existential meaning in their games and the only time it feels rewarding to them is when they are miserable and overcome it.
Its not. I have Druid on 20 on W2 and changed my elemental build to full minions after i saw how strong the creeper active is just with one skill point and because i got a few items that buffes my minion skills later on with 1-2 skill points. The skills are good enough now.
I’m playing on Veteran as well. I have no legendary items. I’ve played the game from 1 to 20 without dying. Got dicey on a boss, but was able to summon and kill.
I agreed last night when I was less than level 10 about the minions feeling weak, but not this morning as I leveled up. Put skills into boosting your minions…
The majority of the United States reads at an 8th grade level. I would say that the global billion dollar successful company created a class that works and that the people anonymously complaining on reddit and forums like this because at level 2 their skeletons died are wrong.
