Randomly acquired literally billions of Seeds of Hatred while in PVP zone

I’m not sure exactly what happened but I was running around the PVP zone outside of Alzuuda, opening bloodmarked chests and doing events for obols, picking up whatever drops without really paying attention. Then, I look up at the top of my screen and see that I have literally 2 BILLION Seeds of Hatred. (Would provide screenshot proof but I can’t for the life of me figure out how to do that here; forum won’t even let me link to an imgur image)

I am bloodmarked but have not engaged any characters in PVP yet today. I opened a few of the bloodmarked chests around the eastern and northern portions of the map, I killed the Abomination whenever it spawned, I occasionally stopped to kill elites for loot/hearts, and farming for obols; no clue which of those things would have caused this to drop. I am also playing on PC with cross-platform play DISABLED.

EDIT: There are also a couple of players (one of them from the clan “Mad Power”) with Chinese-character names who are somehow spawning stacks of billions of seeds around the north/west side of the map where the Chests can be found. Appears to be a player-initiated exploit of some kind.

EDIT 2: This all happened around 12 PM PDT (7 PM UTC) today, and it occurred on the Seasonal, non-Hardcore realm.

I think you met this situation too as per your description?

100m seeds is a drop in the bucket compared to what I happened across but considering the hard cap on redeemed seeds is 750k, it seems possible that there is some correlation.

And if that is so, given that video is over 2 weeks old now… I guess Blizzard simply doesn’t care about the value of gold/aspects? That sucks; watching these two players working right now, it’s easy to see how this could be used to turn tens/millions of gold per hour through vendor trading. Obviously D4’s “economy” will never be WoW’s economy; D4 gold is essentially nothing more than lube for the enchanting process. But dang, it still kinda sucks to see these kinds of things not being reacted to.

Then again, if a player thinks they’re getting the most out of their game time by waddling back and forth between two vendors for hours on end without actually doing dungeons and such, maybe they should be permitted that odd modicum of enjoyment they’ve discovered.

EDIT 2023-09-07 02:56-0700: Still happening. Same server configuration, same map, new characters but still with non-english names that I’m not even gonna attempt to type.
