Agreed, it bothers me at world events as well. they could just ask in local chat if anyone wants to group but instead just throw out the invite and think “well they can just decline it or block me, whatever…”
Since they’ve basically said they’re not going to give us an offline mode, they need to give us an option to turn off random invites, or limit invites to friends/clan only.
The ones at world events are just for extra exp. You can leave right after the boss or legion. I don’t mind those. But just random no reason invites get blocked if they do it a second time, every time.
I got a random friend request and accepted it. Then I messaged the player and said hello. They rudely responded ? and after a while ‘can I help you?’ I told them they just sent me a friend request randomly so I accepted. They said ‘oh yeah, you were in my recommended friends’ which I personally have not even seen to be a thing. Not only was I scratching my head as to why they added me, but they seemed to be rude about the fact when I inquired who they were.
On one hand I feel sorry for most of them. I have a regular group who has been playing Diablo for years (my younger brother was an actual beta tester) which makes the game more interesting and fun but I think a lot (or at least some) of these people just want to make friends and become part of a group. It would be nice if there was a better way for people who don’t want to play solo to find people to play with.
This is why I wish there was an offline or SSF mode in this game. I dont play Diablo to group with others or chat. Years of WOW drama permanently cured me of that.
You get a bonus being near others and double that if you are partied. That’s why they do it. With the legion exp, the near other exp, the in a party exp, a flask, and an incense buff you can get a huge exp boost doing legions, even at very high levels.
Interesting, kind of different experience for me.
I used to get them during the launch period.(first month or 2)
Now, I have received a grand total of zero random invites in season 2 and 3 so far.
Wonder why.
But the point was, imo, it’s ok for people to send party invites for activities in which a party would benefit everyone with more exp. It’s not “rude” under those circumstances and it’s easy to just choose yes or no while sitting there waiting, anyway.
Imo there should be an optional message for the invite so you can easily group up for different activities without unnecessary chat.
Alternatively there could be a party description which players can see when they are invited. With this simple change random party invites wouldn’t be random anymore. Because of the party description you know exactly what’s going on and it’s easier to decide if you want to join the party or not.
