Rainment of the Infinite and Higher NM Dungeons

For you higher level Sorc’s: when you push into higher NM dungeons, are you still using Rainment or are you switching to a more defensive Chest? I feel like at NM 50, this is the farthest rainment can take me. maybe the answer is to swap chests when doing most content except for NM dungeons.

I have seen Sorcs with Rainment at T100. I prefer to run a defensive one with a custom aspect. It all depends on your build and playstyle.

I can get away with it in NM 60s but past that, I swap to a defensive chest. Be nice if the just turned Raiments into an aspect. The Pulling + Stun is really nice for ball lightning builds. Especially for pulling enemies away from walls!

In running tier 100 with raiment. Chain lighting build. A defensive one is a bit safer. This make me kill more quickly. Personal preference. Both will do.

I’m still using it at level 91 running T60’s.
It’s extremely handy for taking out the stupid OP corpse bows and packs of elites when combined with Frost Nova.

Damn Corpse Bows. It’s like playing a sniping game. If they see you first, in most cases yes, pray they miss

I did notice last night after the patch that the first 15 encounters with the corpse bows they missed 100% of their shots. I was even at point blank range and they missed.
Then I grouped up in a T63 and they were back to normal.

Maybe you’re lucky or I am just unlucky. I got sniped twiced today out of the blue

So my impetus for this was I really want to try the Snowguard’s aspect to improve survivability. I got a pretty decently rolled chest with +13% damage, DR9.4%, DR from close 18.9% and DR from far 21.6%. with the aspect, I was actuallky thinking of re-rolling the DR to intelligence. kind of balance it to be slightly more offensive.

I used raiment the whole time on ice shards. Done a lot of 90+ and several 100. I don’t play hardcore and I do die sometimes but I can do the T100 in 5 minutes.

In higher NMD you basically have to memorize corpse bow, and similar 1 shot mob, locations and plan to dive bomb them with shield or barrier from off screen yourself. Shooting from off screen to pull often leads to more deaths for me. Better to scout the room and run or plan to blow a defensive with tele stomp and evade back out. With enough CDR/skills it still plays really smooth.

Any other things you’re doing with defensively to offset the use of a defensive chest?

I am playing on Eternal so I don’t have the benefit of hearts but I’ve ran Raiment up to about mid 80s. With RoI, almost all attacks will 1 shot you so the run is very slow and methodical. After the patch, I switched out the RoI with a 4DR chest + everliving and can take a few hits but not all (corpse bow) mid 90s and almost finished a 100. Honestly, high NM is about fishing for the right key. Anything with ghosts, crit resist, frost resist I insta salvage. Doesn’t matter how much DR I have, ghost will just wreck me. If you have a good key @ t100, you still have to be careful and assuming everything can 1 shot you. with a DR chest, it will bail you out when you make the occasional mistake.

I am iceshards btw.

ROI to 50 then defence chest with snowguards.

The real question is: why would you want to push NMDs past a point where things are so dicey you can’t afford to run the only useful unique available to the class? There is basically no extra reward for pushing past tier 40-50, except bragging rights which you can’t even brag about because there are no leaderboards. I guess I never understood the mindset to keep pushing the limits past the point where it’s rewarding.

I understand your point, I just enjoy the challenge. I want to be pushed to a point where I can’t pass and work to them pass it.

I just completed a t100. Wore 4DR chest, 4DR pants throughout the dungeon. Swapped to RoI at the boss to help stagger (port in, nova) gives you great stagger. I also switched out my ice shard enchant to frost bolt for additional stagger.

You have to push the stagger on bosses else it will take forever. I think I had to stagger the boss 3 times to wear him down.

So, be flexible with your gear and mix pieces based on the situation.

For you it’s not rewarding but for folks who are doing the challenge is rewarding. Rewards don’t need be a physical or monetary or whatever thing.

Some folks like to do bungee jumping. I never find that rewarding but some do. I will never understand why but I guess it’s the same for me where I find it rewarding playing 30 second chess and beating the crap out of my opponent. Most of you won’t get that and won’t even find rewarding.

I actually just tried a bunch of combinations in NM Tier 100 in Season 1.

  • Completed an NM 100 WITHOUT chest and pants

  • Almost completed an NM 100 without chest and pants against Wraiths (You know Wraiths)

  • Completed another 2 NM 100 without Disobedience. Also forgot to socket Rubies on the pants I brought.

  • Completed an NM 100 without hearts and another without Barber

So with and without Raiment will work if all you care is getting a T100 challenge.

There are no rewards for these self imposed challenges. But why? Who cares why. I just wanna do them.

Not using glass cannon

Mine is in my stash. Gives up too much defense, no matter how good the offensive cute mechanic is.
