Rain of Arrows is a cool ability that currently feels very lack luster in its current state. I finally found my preferred use for it, but it is made pointless by its fairly long cooldown, competition for Imbuements, and especially cast time.
- Cooldown
-As far as I am aware, the cooldowns only way to reduce is preparation and stat. This leaves it fairly long in terms of cooldown, especially in end game activities.
I did find a good use for it however. I like to use it to clear the glowing aura mobs that give damage mitigation in my rapid fire build. While rapid fire does great single target compared to penetrating shot, it can’t clear those pesky backline auras, thus Rain of Arrows fills the role! But due to this long CD it just isn’t consistent enough with any realistic build since Combo Points feels so mandatory for bow/Cbow builds.
- Competition
- To be honest, while great in rapid fire builds in theory, it’s still hard to weigh the fact that it competes for imbuements. Why imbue this when a combo point built penetrating shot does WAY more and better single target?
- CAST TIME, CAST LOCK, AND INCORRECT DIRECTION
-By a SUBSTANTIAL margin the biggest issue. First if you cast it, every mob will easily run up to you. Following this the instinct is to dodge roll. Then the Dodge makes you miss the ability in its entirety because it changes the angle of your line up entirely. This NEEDS to be addressed cause it kills the ability beyond precasting a doorway or ally before you can even see the enemies because the second you see them, they are already too close for the cast time.
