Queue to login is absurd?

Am i the only one thinking that a queue to login is crazy? And by login i mean simply getting into the game to make a character.

I thought queues usually only started when you press “play” or am i just getting old? I find it weird that you have queues in a single / multiplayer game anyway. Wouldn’t it be optimal to have the choice and say to hell with it and enjoy the game solo, thus skipping any online queues?

Maybe i’m the crazy one around here, but i’d be happy to hear someone elses thoughts on this matter.

Yes!

I think you are.

Crazy or old? Or both? You might be right lol.

Yes, it’s normal for online games. Even games like D3 that are not really online games but require an internet connection to even play.

It would be nice but they require you to be online to play anyway. Many of the files and the game information is hosted on Blizzard’s end. They have a ton of reasons for doing this but I do wish we had an offline mode.

I’m both crazy and old as well.

Maybe that’s why I don’t mind waiting for things that are fun.

Life experience…?

Yes. You are literally the only one.

No one else has ever been brave enough to speak out about until you.

Fair point, i don’t mind that i have to be online to get into the game though, but perhaps i’m not technical enough to understand the difference in between being online and sitting in a queue to get to the main menu even.

@GoauldOfWar
Your sarcastic post is appreciated, thank you. :stuck_out_tongue:

Once you’ve gotten as far as character creation, you are in the game; you’re performing in-game functions such as creation and customization. For many people that’s actually a pretty big part of the game itself.

Login is just entering your username and password to connect to Battle.net, and there is no queue for that.

I think this is just a case of some mild cognitive conflict about the syntactical differences of “logged in” vs. “in game”. Nothing to be worried about. Alas, as others mentioned, this is the online world in which we live.

The most boring part is I can’t do anything else while in queue… ALT+TAB does not show the Desktop… must try to lauch DIV windowed, but I’d had to close and lost my place in queue.

Baio

today with all that technology and super fast internet that was upgraded all over Europe at least …
the que should not be longer than 5 minutes …

you pay more for lower quality

You might be right, as strange as i find it though. I’d certainly like more options, but i guess that’s asking for too much.

Thanks for the reply regardless, is a good point.

Wait until you get the login faillure and get to wait for the queue again

Most of the queue is from all the crashes is my bet.

Blizzard has always been too poor to pay for server capacity for new games.

i know … “timed out”, game crashes so you go back to 0 and waiting again … PATHETIC

diablo 3 is 10 year old game and you still get ques … its just how they roll, they are not “player friendly”

It’s not really a new game yet, it’s literally a stress test to see how well the server handle being at capacity, the que is part of the point.

Nonsense. Dont be naive. Haven’t you played blizzard games before ?

Its just a matter of renting server capacity. When a game is a few months old, a few % of the player base is online at any given time. When they start up the server 50%+ of the sold games are gonna login. To handle that, you need to temporarily rent a whole bunch of server capacity. They don’t do that.

I dont know, maybe its because they have their own hardware instead of rented server capacity so that its not so simple and cheap to just rent a lot of extra capacity for a short time as it would be when you work with rented servers.

When you launch the game it connects to your account. You are placed in a queue to connect to your account.

How do you expect to create a character before obtaining your account information?

This game is good for you though. It is built for simple minded people.

You understand this is an open beta. Right now they are testing their software to see how many users it can support.

You think everything is limited by hardware which is not always the case. They are currently throttling the queue.

The funny thing is this open beta launch is actually better than the hilarious Diablo 3 failed launch.

I’m not even an Activision fan and I can admit this much.

so why D3 has long ques 10 years after release? Still stress test? You cant be this naive.
