Hey guys, I’ve never played seasons before in the previous games (I sort of did but it’s just to power level the Crusader for the WoW mount) so may come to you as pretty ignorant.
What I know is that after season ends, your season character will turn into a regular one. So it makes sense to roll a new class during a season.
Will it be weird if I choose to play the same class though? It sounds a bit counter-intuitive to do that. Or is it that it can also be beneficial like, bringing in better loots for my main in Eternal?

Season-specific loot (gems, resources, gear) will not be transferred to Eternal Realm, so you’ll not be able to use them on your previous character. Season 1 has Infested gear and Malignant Hearts which are only usable for that Season. They will not be transferred to Eternal Realm after Season 1 ends.
Treat each Season like a roguelike run and enjoy each as a self-contained journey to experience the unique content only available in each Season. Whether playing same class or not, there are many builds for every class.

play whatever you enjoy the most. season specific stuff wont roll over anyway. Uniques etc will tho. i wouldnt worry too much about whats the smartest way to go there and just enjoy =)

Nothing is wierd. You should always play the characters you like to play. And not play them because you feel forced to.
There are a lot of people who play the same class over and over again in every season.
It can totally happen that if you play the same class in the season, you will find better items or even a better build in the season. And you can bring that back to the none-seasonal stash when season ends.
But as Ashyne already said
So if it is an item which is so good because of the season specific gem you socketed into it, then no, it won’t go to the none-seasonal stash or inventory. Sadly. But they also stated that everything can happen and maybe if the mechanic is so good that people want it to be permanent, they maybe will bring it back.
Inquisitor Martyr is doing this. That also seasonal items like seasonal psalms (equivalent of gems) are carried over to none-seasonal after season ends. They can be still used but won’t drop anymore. Which i find very good.
Play as you wish. I thought about playing ranged rogue. But i want to tey barb amd druid. Playing seasons is a way to get that achievement. Get all classes to lvl 100.
