How long does their charge last?
Do I have to charge them nightly?
Is there a quick charge adapter?
How much plat does the quick charger cost?
Is there an adapter to charge it on my horse?
If they run out of charge in a fight, will they return to their charging station on their own? Or do I have to go back and get it myself?
The real question is, what do you guys feed it

Rather optimistic here, you’ll be charging them every 1 to 3 hours.

You have to pay for the portable battery which acts just like a trophy on your horse, this will cost an additional 3000 Platinum. This portable battery will offer 3 hours of charging time. Buying additional portable batteries is an option however.
They will cease all functions and lay on the ground until you pick them up. You can then use your quick charge adapter with your portable battery to recharge them, or take them back to your main hub and plug them in.
Can’t I just use the cigarette lighter under the tail? 
This doesn’t seem like it has been thought out at all, just a plat making scheme.
Careful. I tried that once with my dog when I was like 5, it didn’t go well.
Well you know what they can do if the companion becomes permanent? Sell skins for it.
