I’m on the hunt for several pieces of gear now that i am at 100. Usually i don’t even look at anything or pick up anything that isn’t legendary. Is this wrong, 1 item in particular i want, needs to have +X Hellbent Commander. Could this be on an ancestral (yellow) and if so, could i upgrade it to legendary?
Yes, you can get hellbent commander on a yellow amulet. And yes, you can upgrade it. The only downside is that a yellow upgraded to legendary has 1 less stat slot than an item that was legendary to begin with. But since hellbent commander is so amazing you probably won’t cry too much over it.

Another option would be to use the occultist to try to roll hellbent commander. Your chances are crappy so it gets expensive fast, buuuuuuut… If you drop down to a lower tier (which has a level cap on the gear that can drop), you can get amulets that are cheap to reroll at the occultist. Their other stats will be crappy compared to ancestral, but you’ll have hellbent commander. Makes for a nice temporary amulet until you get an ancestral one.
