After the season ends, say you have a nice leveled up character, does it then transfer over to eternal realm to be played? If so, what about the storage? What about the gear obtained during the season? OR, are ALL characters that are created for seasonal content just deleted?
you normally have a grace period to move the items over from your temporary stash to your permanent.
D3 mailed them to you.
More recently, D2R basically doubled your stash space temporarily, but only allowed you to move items OUT of the ladder/seasonal stash. If it worked the same, you would have until season 3 started to move your items out, or they would be overwritten by the season 2 seasonal stash.
From what I understand, seasonal characters are deleted. Which… kinda makes me wonder, why bother making one… Like I wanna do the same content again, for the 4th time, just to be deleted… armor skin or not…
The seasonal characters aren’t deleted. Your character and gear will transfer back to the eternal realm, but stuff like the malignant gems from S1 won’t. Basically the season mechanic stuff won’t transfer unless they say otherwise, but gear and cosmetics etc will.
OMG really? Screw playing seasonal stuff for me then, I don’t want to grind 100 numerous times for the same character I like playing. Regardless of those little perks in the gear, etc…if it’s temporary, bleh, I don’t want anything to do with that.
No they are not, they get added to your Eternal roster when season is over.

If the characters don’t delete, then I may make roll an alt for the season, but I don’t want to roll that alt if the toon gets deleted.
Never played a D3 season, I am guessing. Seasons are basically diablo’s PTR server. New mechanics are introduced and sometimes, if they work out, they move to eternal servers. Most of the time they are one shots.
I’ve used them to mess with other classes and builds.
What I do if it helps, is start a new different class. So my main on eternal is druid currently, but I’ll be starting a necro S1. Until I have one of each class over the seasons. Then on eternal just play what I like better while I wait for the next season.
Oh, good to know… Weren’t they deleted in D3? I can’t remember… lol. Sorry for the mis-information.
So if malignant gems don’t transfer, what happens to the gear they are set in? Do they vanish or are the sockets just emptied?
I’m guessing they just come over to eternal as empty sockets. I’m trying to think of an example from D3 that is similar but my mind is blank it’s been too long.
Nah in D3 they got added to your others toons also, you get everything sent to you minus seasonal power stuff.
It can be overwhelming if you’ve had a busy season and don’t know to expect it like me the 1st time lol!
Have they said anything about time between seasons yet?
I’ve not heard anything myself, so not sure.
This is completely wrong. Seasonal character’s go to the eternal realm with all your stash and equipped items. You have 3-4 months to move the items that you want to keep over to the eternal realm stash before they delete.
There are many cases where someone really likes a specific class and they end up with like 7 Barbs in the eternal realm after many seasons go past.
However it’s cool because you can later min/max things from past seasons and make one elite character to mess around with in the eternal realm.
Each season is 3 months. So by the time one ends you have the entire next season to move the items. Otherwise like someone said above then the next seasons tab will take it’s place and everything will vanish.
That wasn’t the question.
I was asking how long before the following season starts.

The characters from the season along with any currency or gear you have on that character or in the stash is moved to the Eternal realm. I don’t know what the hell the other person is talking about.
so we are going to design whole character builds around these season 1 gems then the gems are just going to be deleted…? why wouldnt you just add it to the eternal realm like in poe at the end of the season and let us keep our stuff? its just so anti-fun…
