So i don’t like season 8. I don’t even want to play it. So i figure i’d mess around in eternal server however, my spiritborn from season 6 is unchanged from build gear etc but she does 1/1000 of the damage she used to. Can eternal server ever be playable or will they just continue to nerf the crap out of the gear/builds? All season 5 or lower were nerfed by both gear and level and are useless.
I like playing strange builds i create and not some youtuber so season 8 is out for me since it seems googling some youtuber build is now mandatory.
You may need to work on your eternal character, find new gear and/or change your build.
Every 3 months they change every chacter like D3 did to the point its flavor of the month. The only difference is season gimmicks and cosmetics via BP.
So getting to your original thought S6 your SB was likely optimized, S8 when you first log in you will likely stuggle until you fine tune your build and possibly aquire new gear.
It’s definitely playable, I’ve played it exclusively since launch but I have had to change my builds multiple times, but mostly due to legacied items. Occasionally there’s an improvement to an item or new aspect that I’ll change it in a positive way.
Some of what I’ve read about the PTR indicates that eternal in season 8 will be awful as the whole thing is balanced around boss powers (that won’t be present in eternal) but I’m going to try it out anyway of course to see.
Oh no, that’s horrible to hear. I was hoping that eternal wouldn’t be nerfed like the season damage. Thank you for the info. Might have to play something else. I liked season 7 a lot. This news sucks.
They should really have two different difficulty environments for season and eternal.
Without the seasonal powers you lose a lot. And next season it will be the worst it has ever been.
They’re tuning outliers that are overperforming and underperforming with the aim to get more builds into a closer range.
We don’t know anything about your custom SB build to comment on how it would perform in s8 eternal, though you say you’ve lost a lot of damage, so assume you’ve at least got an ROK since that was where SB was hit hardest.
You could bring up any of your characters into something playable quickly using blacksmith caches if you’ve got a decent stash of resources.
There is also that guy in kyovoshad where I think you can still get a character boost with a working build as a starting point. Probably there way to make up for gimping everyone’s builds in eternal with the 3 reworks.
They do not care about eternal realm : they have made that loud and clear . If the game is being designed around these boss powers (as the PTR would indicate) - they might as well just remove eternal because it will be nearly unplayable.
I think that overstates the issues for eternal a bit.
Low tier A build with decent kit was doing 90ish pit without boss powers in PTR.
That does leave room for discussion on player v env balance on eternal as well as additional pressure on getting more builds into a close range, but it’s far from unplayable.
S8 looks to me like the endgame is partly in the seasonal theme. Performance in Eternal during s8 looks like it will be measured on a different yard stick.
The one thing Eternal is supposed to have is stability. They have effectively removed that making Eternal pointless. It is also not likely to change anytime soon.
Broken builds sell cosmetics and battlepasses. They also generate clicks for streamers. Meaning they have to nerf the broken build for last season and make a new one for the next season. I have come to the conclusion they don’t want anyone playing Eternal. It doesn’t generate enough revenue.
It is another way for them to filter out undesirable players. Imagine being in a board meeting watching these guys come up with ways to drive away certain parts of the playerbase. Welcome to modern live service gaming.
Only rod of kepeleke was nerfed, other ‘‘nerfs’’ were bugfixes.
You might need to change your amethysts to emeralds because barrier generation was op with the bugged viscous shield paragon node, dexterity is better without it. The block chance and the gorilla weapon dmg aspects were bugged too.
You miss so much dmg you might want to drop your shako for harmony of ebewaka(?) helm because with the right spirit halls it means 90% more dmg.
Sb still can speedfarm T4 just don’t expect 120 speeds like before.
Eternal server is playable but you’ll have to temper your expectations. You’re not going to be doing the same Pit tiers as seasonal, so whatever build you’re making, expect it to perform many levels below similar ones you see from seasonal. Once you hit the limits of what you can push, know that that’s mainly the gulf between not having seasonal powers & having the powers. It may not necessarily be a fault of your gear or setup.
My Okun’s Catalyst BL build started on Eternal and I started seeing hard caps somewhere around t65-70, maybe 75 at best. With optimizations and the witch powers, it was able to do t100 on seasonal.
Once you accept that you’re playing at a decreased power level, it’s actually not that bad. I find it fun. I don’t feel pressured to level or finish the pass as fast as possible. I can setup whatever build I want, even ones with the new items. Eternal does get affected by all the balance changes so you have to just go with it. It is what it is.
