Question About Blight Build Generic Damage Double Dip

I was watching a build guide on Youtube for Blight necro and it was saying to take generic dmg on weapon/rings instead of shadow dot dmg (which has slightly higher roll) or darkness dmg.

It is because of double dipping I guess, into dot dmg and general shadow?
If so, is this a bug? And if it is a bug, has it been recently fixed or is this intended?

I tried to test it on the char stat sheet with an item that only has generic dmg. Nothing changed in my char except the ‘All Dmg’ row. No changes to shadow, shadow dot or darkness dmg.

Now I’m confused if we should still be prioritizing generic dmg or not.

Yes, it’s double diping. Yes, it’s a bug. No, it will be fixed only in S5.

Thank you.
I feel like if the devs know of the DD issue, then they should also realize this is why Blight build is doing so well.

The nerfs for S5 don’t seem to make sense at all.

+Damage% and +Damage Over Time% aren’t mutually exclusive on items, you can have both.

Yes, I know.
That has nothing to do with the double dipping question I posted.
I know an item can roll with both of those stats.
