They didnt really give an information on when it will return. All the information we have is that it is disabled because they want to rework it.
for a few quarters and a time machine, you can travel back to 1986 in the prime days of aracades and play the best version of gauntlet.

The old arcade machines were quarter munchers unless you found a good one with the life per quarter set high. The 3D ones they made in early 2000s were a lot of fun too.
As far as in game Gauntlet, not sure what they’re going to do there. It’s not popular with casual audience who aren’t interested in competing in a single player grind game. And it’s not popular with leaderboard lovers since it’s not a core activity they can crow about and use to it lord over other players.
i cant even recall how many quarters gauntlet ate, but golden axe probably had it beat. I could play for nearly an hour on pac man with a buck
Gauntlet was supposed to be more like the arcade game when it came up on the d3 ptr forums as a season theme idea. I did like this although ppl pegged it as a challenge rift knock off. Would like it back at some point.
If you look closely, the Undercity looks a lot like the Gauntlet (at least to me).
For everything we know it can’t comeback for S8 either, cause S8 should allready be in the final stages, if not done completly.
