PvP as Rogue Build Adjustments

Anyone play PvP here? Suggestions on tweaks if exploring this mild end game route? Or is it all hidden martial arts and kept secret? :grinning:

I do find it interesting with Rogue that the only time I fear another player as I’m speed farming fields of hatred is another Rogue. HOTA barb can be hard to kill because I’m wearing speed farming gear, but they can’t kill me either.

It does kind of feel like a martial arts flicks sometimes. I’ll exchange 3-4 blows with a marked player that decides to attack me and I can decide if it’s time to dash out or finish them for bothering me, but at least I get the option power level wise of deciding to continue my defensive fight. Other classes…eh…dead on first strike. Lol.

I have had success using concealment. Being able to vanish and gain tons of move speed helps so much in PvP. Shadow Step stun doesn’t always work in PvP if the target is too fast.

Caltrops work well too, people look at it as if it’s a joke and walk right into it. Use mobility, aspect to dodge the next 7 attacks works wonders in PvP as well.

I also use cold with barrage so I can be at somewhat of a distance at times when needed, not sure if it matters, TB wrecks fast as well.

Rogues are the kings of PvP, I’ve pretty much stopped PvPing (and playing in general to be honest) as I feel like I’m griefing everyone on FoH as a rogue.

It’s rare that you’ll find any competition unless you run into another high level rogue.

Im using this build. Works very well in PvP aswell. If you face problems just switch out the trap with conceal. For 2 or more vs 1 add bubble aspect.

This is the way, use concealment if PvP gets challenging. Makes a ton of difference.

Triple core Barrage/Flurry/TB (1 point in flurry and tb for combo point bonuses only). Some use rapid fire instead of barrage. So much versatility with rogue…

I haven’t beaten (or lost) to another high level rogue yet, although I feel I’m always super close to losing against the poison while wearing the speed farming gear and quickly dash out.

What’s the opinion on poison traps? Not worth it?

I find poison traps next to useless in PvP unless your opponents stand still which is rare.

Agreed. Its best to switch out a skill for conceal while wandering the fields. However I have been killing alot with the t100 build above without switching aswell.
How does the trickery heart works on other players?

Frost and Poison imbue. It’s easier to make work and more potent than the gimmicky sounding aspects suggest. No basic skill needed, since your damage is insignificant outside of the imbues.

What are my odds of winning in PvP as a Flurry Rogue who runs triple Imbuements, with only a focus on attack speed and critical damage?

Flurry is underwhelming unless you use it to fish for a knockdown crit on dazed targets (combo with twisting blades) then barrage is better for that. Shadow imbue doesn’t do enough against a lone player beyond having 2 more imbued hits so I doubt it’s worth the cost of slotting an extra trick.

You’ll need more ways to break CC so at a minimum you’ll want to drop one of the imbuements.

Edit:
Oh no…failed Rogue Nation again. This time lost to a Barb. Assume it was a Thorns/Frenzy barb. He couldn’t take down anything else but did take down me three times. So assume it had to be thorns.

What’s the play here to counter thorns before I head back out onto the field to redeem our honor?

They are good when you can stealth drop 4 and activate leaving stealth, otherwise pretty much useless.

I’ve ONLY had success using flurry in PvP when combined with Aspect of Surprise(Stun grenades when evading and shadow step), along with flurry stuns after evading through an enemy.

Shadow imbuement as well with lethal dusk aspect.

The idea is to shadow imbue shadow step someone, then evade into them after using flurry once. Break stealth right away with puncture or whatever and flurry/evade again. Constantly gaining and breaking stealth, always stunning them with grenades and flurry.

It fails if you can’t get the first hit in the fight. It’s too hard to walk up and flurry someone, need to get the jump on them and go to work. Rogues get owned unless they have shadow clone and they rarely do.
