I’m been running pure ice shards for like 2-3 weeks and I gotta be honest I’m dying for a new build at least slightly different and I’ve seen some stuff about blizzard being implemented in and I’m wondering how it holds up against pure ice shards?
Either way I’d really appreciate it if you could link in a good blizzard ice shard build so I can try for myself as well.
I am running Ice Shards with Blizzard as well as the Ice Spikes that cast with Blizzard. This build is S-Tier; I believe it is the best hybrid sorcerer build in the game right now after testing many different sorcerer builds. I have been able to clear everything with this build.

it feels more fun than pure ice shard build dont sure about the dmg difference though
I switched from Ice shards to Ice Shards+Blizzard and find it a lot of fun and very powerful.
Sometimes I just like to stand in one place and keep casting one blizzard on top of the other, armor if needed and just watch the hordes of mobs rush in, freeze and explode.
Has a zen feeling to it

What enchants are you using? I’m running a similar build
I run blizz with shard enchantment and fireball enchantment also.
Just obliterates packs like crazy.
Blizz freezes then shards break em off and the explosion from fireball creates super big aoe clearing. Great for Helltides and NM’s up to 30ish.
I think our Ice Shard + Blizzard + Ice Spikes is one of our best builds. My first enchantement is Fire Bolt enchantment which applies burning damage to all my targets and also increases my damage massively because I have + 3 Devouring Blaze on an amulet which gives me 60% crit damage to burning targets but 150% crit damage to immobilized targets. This is a must have if you want to clear Uber Lillith and/or Level 100 Nightmare Dungeons. My second enchantement is Ice Shards, which automatically conjure and fly towards frozen targets. This means as soon as you frost nova a group of monsters they automatically explode because of the auto attack of Ice Shards. For higher level boss fights sometimes I take out my Ice Shard Enchantment and replace it with Flame Shield which gives me an extra life. However for most content especcially where I am fighting a lot of packs of mobs I use Ice Shards with Fire Bolt. I hope this helps.
Blizzard adds chill which opens up tons of damage options in paragon board.
Blizzard + Ice shard is the way to go in level 90+ nightmare dungeons. Can’t go wrong with chill slow and range
ice shard + blizzard is the best build sorc has right now, u can do pure ice shard and pure blizzard. but u will find them very limiting when it comes to different situation. ice shard + blizzard share the best of both world. u have to give up 100% crit vs insane aoe+cc. at 40+ crit chance u have basically have 1/2 chance to crit no need for 100% and be limited to ur 100 mana to maintain 100% crit. free u up to do what ever u please.
I think when playing for fun or speedfarming open world, you can play a hybrid of both. If playing to push hard content and high NM dungeons, need to pick one because of skill point allocation or gear stats (e.g. core skill damage on items vs mastery skill damage Adept glyph).
What enchants you running
u can make push probably 90+ dungeon u can go specialize in one of them, nobody use adept glyph for blizzard. it doesn’t really do anything to blizzard build, its the ice spike that does the damage not blizzard it self. adding blizzard to an ice shard build mean u have to trade ur 60% crit from ur amulet spot for 38% ice spike damage from aspect swapping. its not much else, its a choice u want to keep elementalist or destruction for glyph.
Does anyone have a good build guide for the hybrid build?

I’ve got all the aspects and decent versions of the gear. I’m working on levelling up glyphs, building paragon and optimizing gear right now. Working very well so far. I posted about it in another thread.
Had the pleasure of bumping into a blizzard-specced sorc in a helltide event.
This homeboy just spammed blizzard around the event area and all the rest of us could basically chill around the center collecting free fragments because no mob could pose any threat once the blizzards were set up and rolling.
Have to admit it had me thinking hard about trying the blizzard build but with the unintuitive paragon reset, gear refarm and upcoming patch I just couldn’t justify it at this point. The blizzard build seems fun as heck regardless.
Doesnt putting Glacial Aspect in your Focus severely limit your DPS?
It’s pretty fun, but annoying to farm the aspects. I’d recommend it as a second character if you’re having fun with another toon and that one maxes into the grind-boredom phase. But prepare to be challenged on getting one-shotted a lot.
